Tenerife highlights the volcanic landscape that the Canaries are perhaps most famous for – towering volcanoes preside over a stunning island of verdant valleys and, of course, black sand beaches. The moonscape vistas of Mount Teide National Park with its landscape shaped by lava will leave you breathless. Finally Fuerteventura is a beach-lover’s paradise with some of the best sandy beaches around and a near-guaranteed rain-free climate thanks to the island’s proximity to the Sahara Desert.
After the Canary Islands, you’ll head to Tangiers in Morocco. For a taste of North Africa, head to the famous Souk in the Medina with a heady mix of spices, leather, brass work, carpets and clothing on offer – if you’re feeling confident, you can even try to haggle with the friendly traders.

Your final stop is the Portuguese capital of Lisbon which enjoys stunning architecture and a relaxed cafe culture. Whilst there, why not indulge in a coffee and deliciously moreish Pastel de Nata – a traditional custard tart that’s baked fresh throughout the day?
