Caribbean

About the cruise

Fly out to Barbados to join Oceana and set sail for Mayreau. Proof that heaven exists, this tiny unspoiled island is in the jewel-like Grenadines. More importantly, it is a private island and today it is reserved just for you and your fellow passengers. You can snorkel in the glassy waters, walk the pristine beaches, enjoy a superb beach barbecue, or just relax with a chilled cocktail. Grenada is a major producer of nutmeg, vanilla, mace and cinnamon - so much so that the very air is perfumed with exotic smells. The harbour of St. George’s is one of the prettiest in the entire Caribbean.

Just a few miles off the coast of South America, Margarita Island is Venezuela’s Caribbean paradise. So, in addition to splendid beaches and magnificent bathing, you can feel a distinctive Spanish accent. Welcome to Curaçao. Enjoy a tranquil afternoon and take a stroll amongst the narrow alleys and monuments of the capital, Willemstad. Cristobal, at the Atlantic entrance of the Panama Canal, is your gateway for the city of Colon. From here, relive the adventures of Captain Morgan at San Lorenzo Fort, head to a village on the banks of the Gatun Lake to meet the Embera Indians or see the amazing Gatun locks in action. Then it is an amazing journey through one of the modern wonders of the world – the Panama Canal. Connecting two oceans, it is the biggest short cut in the world.

From Puntarenas seek out the local wildlife on a boat ride through the mangroves or discover the Poas Volcano, famous for its geysir-like eruptions of gas and ash. Puerto Quetzal is rich in remains from the mighty empire of the mysterious Maya. Dazzling with all the charms of the best of Mexico, there is no doubt that Acapulco is one of the world’s greatest resorts. Ringed by mountains and fringed with glorious beaches this is the place to sample a margarita, sway to the strains of mariachi music or watch the death-defying divers at La Quebrada. Enjoy an overnight stay on board Oceana in Acapulco before flying home to the UK.
