About the cruise
Fly to Barbados to join Oceana. In Curaçao, stroll across the unique Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge for the best views of its traditional, Dutch-style gabled houses or sample the island’s most famous export, the orange-flavoured Curaçao liqueur. The landscape of Aruba is dry and arid with evocative divi-divi trees. Snorkelling is superb here, but do not miss the historic Santa Anna Church or lively Oranjestad.
From Costa Maya, once home of the indigenous Mayan Indians, on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, you can explore historic Mayan sites. Cozumel provides plenty of opportunities for diving and the chance to visit the imposing Mayan remains at Tulum. Grand Cayman is an attractive island. Georgetown, the capital, is the departure point for a fascinating submarine trip over extensive coral reefs. In Ocho Rios the star attraction is Dunn’s River Falls, a seething and climbable waterfall. On to Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands. Take a trip up Mount Sage for magnificent views or simply relax on the beach at Cane Garden Bay, or at neighbouring Virgin Gorda.
St. Maarten is equally enchanting with superlative shopping and elegant boutiques. An island with a split personality, one side is French whilst the other is Dutch. Dominated by the majestic twin peaks of Les Pitons, St. Lucia is a welcoming and beautiful place. If lovely Marigot Bay looks familiar, you may remember it from the original ‘Dr. Doolittle’, the musical was filmed here. Barbados is the most British Caribbean island, offering all the sun, sand and sea you want. From here, you take an overnight flight back home.
