Puerto de la Cruz lies at the mouth of the Orotava Valley. Tree-lined avenues, large modern hotels and a variety of shops have transformed this one-time quiet fishing village into the main tourist hub of the northern part of the island. Enjoy some free time to shop, or stroll along the promenade.
Tenerife’s popular Botanical Gardens were created in 1788. Well worth seeing is their major collection of tropical and sub-tropical plants, with special emphasis on varieties of palms such as Bromeliacea, Araceas and Moracea.
Passing the university city of Laguna, the first capital of the island and the village of Tacoronte, you’ll descend to the small village of El Sauzal for a brief photo stop. Stopping next at Humboldt’s viewpoint, take a look over the vast Orotava Valley with its impressive banana plantations.

Your day begins with a drive along the spine of the island where the road snakes up through the Esperanza Forest, stopping at Ortuno Viewpoint for views over the north coast. As you climb higher, the greenery turns to grey and blue and the landscape turns to lava. Before you, rises the dramatic Mount Teide in the middle of an eerie landscape.
You’ll stop at a local café where coffee or tea and a pastry will be served before reaching the National Park of Las Cañadas. From almost everywhere on Tenerife, Spain’s highest mountain, the Pico de Teide, dominates the horizon and you will be able to admire the views from afar.
Enjoy a guided walk around the beautiful town of Orotava. Located in the lush Orotava Valley, this market town is one of the oldest settlements on the island. Pass through the old colonial district and view the House of the Balconies, which dates from 1637. Lunch is included in the tour and will be served at Pueblo Chico.
In Puerto de la Cruz, you’ll have time at leisure to shop or wander along the coastal promenade of this popular holiday resort.

Your tour starts off with a drive into the mountains of Anaga, passing the fishing village of San Andres. On your way, marvel at the magnificent Canary flora, including the ‘Dragon Tree’ and terraces of tiny cultivated plots of land. Arrive at the El Bailadero viewpoint, where you’ll have the chance to capture on film some of the stunning scenery.
At the small village of Taganana, you’ll enter a scene of white houses and bare volcanic mountains, on a horizon of blue sky and shimmering sea. If you wish, you can walk with the guide up the hill to visit the simple church (except Sundays), which houses the figure of ‘Our Lady of the Snows’. Local wine and cheese will be served at a restaurant in Taganana.
A brief stop will be made from the panoramic point of Pico del Ingles, where you’ll have a beautiful perspective (weather permitting) of the north and south side of the island, which is quite unforgettable

As you enter the Underwater World, you’ll get the eerie feeling that you are actually at the bottom of the sea. Don’t miss the Killer Whale and Dolphin shows and for something really special, join up for a ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour. These are just a few of the highlights of the Park – join the tour and see the wealth of attractions that Loro Park has to offer.

Sunbathe on the catamaran’s netting, whilst sipping complimentary drinks, or enjoy the coastal views as you sit in the shade. Take the plunge off the diving platform into the crystal-clear waters of a nature reserve where you’ll stop for a swim, or if you wish, take advantage of the snorkelling equipment provided.
Although there is never a 100% guarantee of whale or dolphin sightings, the crew are always optimistic and will make every effort for you to see some. Throughout the trip, complimentary drinks including wine, beer and soft drinks will be served. A small snack will also be offered during the tour.

The Esperanza Forest is, without doubt, one of Tenerife's most picturesque areas, a vast pine forest stretching for many miles. From certain points on the road rising up through the Forest, you can experience tremendous views over the tree-tops all the way to the distant volcano Mount Teide.
Reaching Guimar, your guide will take you on a walk around the pyramids. Although on a much smaller scale to those found in Egypt, these intriguing structures still have many theories behind their construction. Discover the secrets of these creations and admire the architectural perfection, the careful and exact cutting of the rocks, the proportions between the steps, the volcanic origin of the blocks and their perfect orientation to act as sundials. A short video presentation will also explain the findings. Afterwards relax and enjoy a refreshing glass of Sangria or a glass of juice. At Guimar, you’ll also find the Casa Charcona Museum. Enjoy free time to look around or visit the gift shop.

Enjoy a guided tour of La Laguna, once the island’s capital, which is full of graceful colonial houses and convents dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Other places of interest in the town include the Convent of Santa Catalina and the cathedral.
At Tacoronte, a stop will be made at the ‘Bodega Alvaro’ for some ‘tapas’ and wine tasting. With more than seventy thousand bottles lining the walls and smoked sausages and hams hanging from the ceiling, your taste buds are sure to be tempted! A selection of tasty ‘tapas’ and three types of wine will be served, washed down with a glass of ‘cava’ (Spanish champagne). In La Barande El Sauzal, you’ll visit a wine museum where you can enjoy the views of the north coast from the terrace.
The return to the ship will be via the motorway.

If shopping’s not your bag, there’s always the Botanical Gardens, situated on the edge of the town, where you can discover plants and trees from all five continents.
Kids of all ages will love the Lido Martianez, which boasts numerous salt water pools, waterfalls and fountains.

Journey 2,300 metres above sea level through the Esperanza Forest, one of the most attractive places on the island. Its’ cool forests of eucalyptus vegetation makes way for occasional glimpses of Teide mountain.
Your scenic drive will take you to the National Park of Las Cañadas, an enormous crater covering an area of 13,571 hectares from which emerges the majestic cone of Mount Teide.
Begin your hike at the Mirador de Los Tajinastes in the Ucanca Valley. Enjoy the flora and fauna of this picturesque part of the island as your guide leads you along the park trails. Finishing near the Hotel Parador National, you will have a comfort stop and the chance to purchase a refreshment before joining the coach back to the port.

The mountainous slopes of the Orotava Valley are filled with lush vegetation and banana plantations. Admire the scenic views as you pass by Icod de Los Vinos, situated in the northwest of the island. The town of La Guancha surrounds it to the east, the village and port of Garachico to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the north and the foot of the Teide to the south. A brief stop will be made at Icod de Los Vinos for you to see the massive dragon tree here, reputed to be more than a thousand years old.
Pause at the Mirador de Garachico to enjoy a coffee or tea and a local pastry and admire the panoramic views. In Garachico village itself, you may choose to take a dip in the natural lava swimming pools just next to the coast or simply stroll the attractive streets.

El Sauzal and Tacoronte have gained a reputation of being the best wine growing regions in Tenerife. Only a short drive from the ship, you will visit the Wine Centre Museum at the old farmhouse mansion of La Baranda Here, you’ll be offered three different kinds of wine: red, white and rosé.
Moving on to Bodegas Alvaro, which holds possibly the biggest collection of wines in the Canaries, you will have the opportunity to try Cava, a sparkling wine, and Moscatel, a sweet wine. A further three wines will be tasted, together with a selection of Spanish tapas.
The return drive will take you through the vineyards and the great scenery of Arafo.
