About the cruise
Join Aurora in Southampton and for the following few days you’ll be able to relax on board as you head for your first port of call Madeira. This ‘garden isle’ is simply awash with colour from a breathtaking display of sub-tropical plants and flowers. So it is hardly surprising that large and colourful flower markets are one of the most arresting features of Funchal, Madeira's capital.
More leisurely days at sea follow as Aurora bears south; across the Atlantic to Recife. Brazil’s fourth largest city is a lively combination of old and new, with wide boulevards and skyscrapers mixing with narrow streets, ancient churches and markets. With an atmosphere that’s as colourful as Madeira’s flowers, Rio de Janerio has much more to offer than sun and sand. Be certain to visit the city’s most famous landmark; the 30 metre-high statue of Christ the Redeemer.
Within a few yards of Montevideo’s port, there’s a bustling market (Puerto del Mercado) where you can buy local artists' paintings and all kinds of eclectic bric-a-brac. Shopping is made even more fun by street entertainers and musicians busking in between the stalls. From Buenos Aires, the birthplace of tango, you fly home.
