About the cruise
Join Aurora in Southampton and relax on board as you head for your first port of call Madeira. More leisurely days at sea follow en route to Recife, a lively combination of old and new. With an atmosphere that’s as colourful as Madeira’s flowers, Rio de Janerio has much more to offer than sun and sand. Be certain to visit the city’s most famous landmark; the 30 metre-high statue of Christ the Redeemer.
Within a few yards of Montevideo’s port, there’s a bustling market (Puerto del Mercado) where you can buy local artists' paintings and all kinds of eclectic bric-a-brac. In Buenos Aires, the birthplace of tango, enjoy two full days in port to discover the delights of this vibrant city by night.
The Falkland Islands are a nature-lovers delight and from Port Stanley, there’s plenty of opportunities to visit the famously photographed penguin colonies. On the tip of South America, Ushuaia is the gateway to Argentina's only coastal national park: Parque Nacional Tierra Del Fuego and in Punta Arenas, there are several good museums (one open air) recording its early history and the wool boom years.
Witness the most breathtaking sights as you cruise past both Amalia and Pio X glaciers, you’ll definitely want to have your camera to hand. Next, enjoy one of the best flea markets in South America on the outskirts of Puerto Montt. And then you arrive in your final destination Valparaiso.
