Dominica is a spectacular setting but the port is a dump.  the falls are a good trip.

St Vincent.  We did young island the first time we went there, a fantastic day.  We didn't get past the gates and the hordes of taxi drivers on the second trip.

Jamacia can be intimidating away from the main attractions.

Even having visited the islands I can understand how people find them somewhat intimidating...some of them are!!

Reading through this thread, it is obvious, that the weather can have a big impact on what you think of a location. For me, the worst port was Bora Bora in the Paciffic - even the crew called it boring boring. The weather was bad and apart from going to ****** Mary's or buying black pearl jewellry, there was very little to do. maybe that is why it is a honeymoon destination :-).

The other port I didn't like was Porbandar in India. The good thing with most bad ports is that you are soon out of them and on to something more interesting. So, Vigo doesn't get the thumbs down from me - how else would i have got to Santiago de Compostella?

Another thing!!!..There have been some ports...and I mean ports..that do not lend themselves to wandering round.....This is the real world....if you dont want to pay to have the expensive excursions to" views," and "sites "then just wander round the streets that ordinary people live and work in.....this is what cruising with one day stops is all about....OK my fav stop is Vinice, but wandering round the back streets of Santo Domingo..bit scary but would not have missed it for the world...and willNEVER forget

The place I have liked least is St Vincent, We called there on our Panama Canal Cruise earlier in the year. I found it quite threatening and couldn't wait to get back onboard.

wouldn't bother getting off if we call there again

St Vincent, Windward Is.

Nineteen years ago we went on a speedboat trip to the (then) uninhabited north end of the island (with St Lucia in view) and dived off the boat into a warm sea, up on to a beach, and then plunged into a cool, freshwater pool with waterfall.

Felt as if I was in a Bounty advert (not the Plenty kitchen towel formerly known as Bounty!)

Without a doubt - I agree with David - it has to be Richards Bay in South Africa! P & O did not give me an answer when I wrote to them and asked why we had stopped there.

I think that this is somewhat unfair as many of the posts have been made by peaple who have not bothered to go outside of the port area.

We have not found a destination yet that did not have something of intreast.

St Lucia one of the most beautiful islands we have been to, try the sea and land tour,

Vigo, sea food restaurants,

Dominica, Aerial Tram or Island tour.
