Skylane Hotel very near to Gatwick we have been 3 time sin the past 2 years ,first spent one short night up at $.00 they ring you , and paid £5 for taxi as there transport does not start till 6 .00 and then you have to book early as if it is full you have to get a taxi our deal was for a week we left the car 3 shared a room £ 75 so we were more than happy . At the time they were doing a big refurbishment have been since they started had 2 rooms refurbished very good no lift to first floor obviously cost more , you phone when you have arrived back at Gatwick with a free phone .

We would not hesitate in booking again

We still havent decided, but we know it is a choice of 2.  The Sofitel which is on the North Terminal, where we fly out, and parking at Gatwick long stay for the month, or Little Foxes who will keep our car for 29 days and bed and breakfast, almost athird cheaper.   We always say we wont drive home, but hubby always does.  little foxes will let you stay the morning you get back and sleep, but thats another £55. Am on P001 flying from Gatwick on 9th January, and have booked B&B for the night before (via Holiday Extras, who gave me an extra 10% discount) at Acorn Lodge, with parking for 15+1 night.  The night's stay plus 15 nights parking came to about £88, and extra nights parking can be arranged with the hotel for £4 a night.

It's a small hotel only a mile and a half from the North Terminal, and they arrange transport for you to the airport on demand, and a phone number to ring when you get back, for them to come in about 10-15 minutes to pick you up.  The car is left at the hotel (no need to drive to a car park and get a shuttle bus); valet parked at their larger sister hoel while you are away, then brought back for you to pick when you get back.  The food is supposed to be good there, and continental breakfast is available from 6am, full English from 7am though there might not be quite enough time for that.  Seemed like a good deal to me!

Anyone else staying there on the night of 8th January?  Will be on my own as my friend flies from Manchester, so would be nice to say hello, and maybe share transport to the airport.

Michele

..... The Sofitel which is on the North Terminal ...

We only use The Sofitel from Gatwick or indeed T5.

Very convenient, just a short stroll / mono-rail trip to the check-in areas - real easy for North or South terminals. Airport trolleys are located in the foyer.

Approx £100 per room. We like the Chinese / Thai meal, a tad pricey but a good start to a holiday - other food options are available.
