Officially they are all the same, I presume you mean dress. Ventura & Oceana have recently been changed to not have the semi formal evenings but as far as the rules go on a formal night they are the same & well adhered to in the main. As far as atmosphere I would say Aurora is more, shall we say, traditional & I presume Oriana is too although I have not been on her. Ventura & Oceana are supposed to be more relaxed in atmosphere, I found Artemis quite fun ship too. Arcadia can be a bit 'old' for some reason, at least when we have been, at 60 (just) we feel young, fit & active which we aren't really.

I suspect, but can't prove, that the age band on Aurora and Oriana will make them a little more 'formal' than the others.

I would say that it is almost impossible to answer that question.

If you are asking which ship has the most formal nights then that is easy - they all have the same (based on two per week)

If you are asking which ship has the "best dressed" on formal nights then that will vary depending on the passenger demographic but I would probably lean towards Oriana as it has a good mix of young and old (some, not all, of the upper end of the age spectrum do not make quite the same effort as those at the lower end - but that is only my perception)

If you are asking on which ship the overall dress is more formal then you would probably dismiss Ventura and Oceana as they do not have semi formal nights and there is probably not much to choose between the others.

I think the whole point is that everyone will have a different view as to the answer and given time you will probably get an answer saying that each ship is the most formal - this would proably have been better as a poll

It also depends on what you mean by formal - besides dress, there is perhaps the early evening apertif, after dinner brandies etc. This tends to be the older end of the spectrum [includes me].

I think some of the older passengers DO make the effort, but just don't succeed!!

Hey J T D -that's a sweeping statment -The old lady of 100 -who did the toast to the Queen  mother on her 100th birthday ----had the most beautiful black dress I have ever seen and she had Diamonds that would choke a horse .

You get young people who dress badly and old people who dress badly --and the reverse .

Although I love getting dressed up and seeing everyone else ---------it is what is inside people which makes them nice --not outside .

I would say for sticking to the dress code ----------I find Aurora first and Artemas second ------------But it was most likely the people on at that given time --------

Regards Flora x

Totally agree Flora, and when they don't succeed it's not necessarily for the want of trying.

JTD, you not being ageist are you ?

David, no, I am not being ''ageist,'' it is you reading what you want to see, I am in fact defending the older passenger in respect of this statement made earlier by t'other David.(made without malice I am sure)

''If you are asking which ship has the "best dressed" on formal nights then that will vary depending on the passenger demographic but I would probably lean towards Oriana as it has a good mix of young and old (some, not all, of the upper end of the age spectrum do not make quite the same effort as those at the lower end - but that is only my perception''
