| It is my understanding that once we have checked in at our departure airport, we will not see our luggage again until it is in our cabin. Am I correct in my understanding or will we be loading our own luggage on to the bus and then off again at the cruise terminal? Also on our return journey do we still check in at the airport and have a chance to do some duty free shopping or are we ferried straight to a departure lounge? Any replies would be appreciated as I would like to return home with at least one bottle of Barbados Rum! Captain Piggy 1st Cruise N926A Ventura

Yes, your luggage is taken directly from the aircraft to the ship - be prepared though that you may not get it for many hours.
On the way back, it is taken from the ship and you don't see it until the UK. You will be taken to the airport and by-pass check-in, but you wait in departures until boarding, so should have time to buy your Rum.
Enjoy your cruise - and your Rum!

| That's the best thing about P&O cruises, you get fast-tracked straight from the plane onto your coach within say, depending on the traffic in Barbados, 30 mins, you are on the boat. My husband's case was there when we had to have dinner the first night at 6pm, mine wasn't, was worried they'd lost my case, but as soon as we got back, it was in our cabin. They have years of doing this and they know exactly what they are doing. Poor things, they have hundreds of cases to lug around! Going again 5th Dec 2009 VENTURA East Mids

What do you mean 'fast-tracked' Does it mean you don't have to go through immigration in America? Just wondering as American immigration put me off going last time we visited the USA.

| I imagine the thinking behind the "fast-tracking" at Barbados is that the mini bus transport provided means in effect you are virtually frog marched to the ship and conduct the customs procedures at the quayside. The contents of your suitcases does not ever in effect get landed in Barbados as you have no access to it until it is put directly into your cabin which is technically not in Barbados. Regards Keith
