"Can the speciality restaurants really top that?"

It is all a matter of personal taste - you will find some on here you will say yes and you will find others who will say no. You will just have to try it and make up your own mind.

We treat the speciality restaurants as a treat and also a must do! It just adds variety to the holiday. Sometimes you may want a lavish and long meal at Rhodes for example or on the other hand we sometimes go to the buffet for something light and healthy. As said, the Indian nights are well worth going to and are popular but I have never had to have a ticket. Always remember its your holiday and make your own choices. Have fun!

The speciality restaurants are more about the "experience" than the food, but the food may be "eastern'' or rich sauces like Rhodes.

And ofcourse the speciality restaurant cater for about 80-100 people with food freshly cooked to order by the best chefs and the main restaurant caters for a 1000 diners per sitting, they do a wonderful job in the main restaurant but the service and food in the speciality restaurants are 1* better. It really is worth considering for just one night our of a 14n cruise!

I think the evening's menu was delivered to your cabin each morning... (?) Certainly it was for formal night.  We booked other restaurants on the night in question, after checking the main restaurant menu... never had any problem.

If there's a dining venue on your ship with good views (or even outside), I am told it's well worth paying the supplement, travelling through the fjords.... great views, wasted if you eat inside, away from a window every night!   Or you may be able to see from the buffet.

On Oceana, I found one of the restaurants to have fabulous food (albeit "only" steak and chips - but perfectly done), the other I was disappointed with, food-wise.  However, I will gladly give it another go.... as somebody else has said, it does feel like a treat, to do go occasionally.  We found the service to be far better too (better levels of staffing).

The evening menus may be delivered to your cabin if you are in a suite but they certainly are not if in a balcony or below.  They are available every day to view outside the restaurant for that nights dinner.

Speciality restaurants have the full menus a A and B which rotate every 4 days or so on show outside their restaurants.

That's what we do, have a look at the menu then decide, trouble is by then it's a bit late to tell your table companions. I have never failed to find something in the main restaurant....there is always the old favourite "always available"
