Goodness, that was a bit deep Emma, this is after all only a cruise forum, and the suggestion of smilies as I see it could certainly lighten many posts.

Questions/Evaluations/Overviews really not necessary, surely if the facility is there it is down to ones own choice if they use it, if they don't want to use it, that's fine, it hardly needs analysing !!!

There will always be heated debate, it is unavoidable, it certainly would be a boring world if we all agreed on every issue.

Of course if you want calm, perhaps you should look at Crows Nest, no disrespect it is a very nice site and moderated far better than this one IMO, if threads start to get out of hand they are either removed or locked.

That very possibly could be a way forward for you, lots of lovely people over there, many of them members on here.

Hi Jo, thanks for the post - I didn't find it deep at all; just common sense.  A smiley is not necessarily a reliable indication that the person using it is happy or pleasantly amused.  It can be sinister.

Anyway, if you want deep, I can do that, no problem at all.  I am surprise that you found my post deep - oh well, whatever.

Cheers.

Hi Jo, well - that's just it.  You see you may use an emoticon (smiley) innocently enough with no sinister intentions - but then you cannot guarantee that it will be viewed in the spirit in which you inserted it.

And therein lies the problem.  I think we are better off using words - afterall, haven't we got a wonderful, colourful and diverse language?

Cheers

Still don't think putting ''LOL'' or ''smiley'' faces means you can say what you want, like when people say..."with respect" or even "sorry to say but"

I rarely use the cliche, 'with the greatest respect', as I only post what I mean and feel.
