| Bonaire. A charming little town to walk around and, if you don't want to venture far, a little beach clearly visible from the ship and to your right, pebbles though.

Hi anyone know if its possible to just walk off the ship or use shuttle at the following ports------st vincent --grenada---tortola or st maarten and be at a beech or shops ?
We have already booked excursions at st kitts , st lucia and aruba and believe catalina is a beach stop, and last but not least barbados we have a overnight stay there and have nothing planned, any idea's appreciated. Thanks
Oh and before the jokers start i realise if we have to use a tender at any of the above ports we cant just walk off the ship L O L

| I cannot remember a shuttle provided at Tortola, Grenada or St. Maarten. At all three, we did a tour as it was our first time there. Next time, which is soon, would get a taxi at all three ports, to a beach.

The town beach in Philipsburgh St Maarten where you dock is perfectly OK if not a little to near to the shops for comfort.
To get to Marigot Bay St Lucia you need to get a taxi, then the water taxi, $2 to travel 100yards to the beach. The beach is a little stony but sheltered and does not shelve as steeply as most Caribbean beaches, great for the little ones or non swimmers.

| [quote] ..... if its possible to just walk off the ship .... Grenada It is entirely possible to mull about but this, for us, was a beautiful Island so a tour of some sort may be an idea - unless the recent hurricane has ripped it apart of course. Tortola Another easy to stroll around sort of place. Nothing special but enough to pass the time away for an hour or two. Catalina They have a beach, but not much else if I remember correctly.

| Tortola, The boat trip to the "Baths" on Virgin Gorda is a great trip provided that you are reasonably fit.

At St Maarten you can just get off the ship and get a water taxi into the centre of Philipsburg - it costs $6 return. There's a really nice beach right there and you've got shopping all around too.
At St Lucia, I can highly recommend a tour with Spencer Ambrose (google him for his website) - for $65 we had an amazing tour which included a ton of food. We learnt loads and had great fun too - the beach at Jalousie Bay was just stunning, where we had an hour at the end. I had flying fish within a foot of me, angel fish swimming round my ankles, was in heaven!
Am v jealous!

| You will be landed on Cayo Levantado by tender. As someone has already said, it is a very small island with half of it taken up by a hotel and private grounds and beach. The rest of it, the bit which you can access, consists largely of a nice beach and a BBQ area but if you want to sit on the beach and get a sun chair then be sure to get off the ship as early as possible as space is limited. A BBQ lunch is included but we were put off by all the flies buzzing round the food and, as there was nowhere to sit, we went back to the ship. It's a different, "desert Island" type of stop but don't expect too much.

| Hi Sid I am also on the 924 and although used to traveling abroad on my own for business, this will the first time to the Caribbean cruising on my own. Should I book all P & O tours to be safe or do you think it will be possible to link up with others from the Artemis? Many thanks Jean

We have shared a taxi with others, sometimes arranged on board whilst chatting about our plans for a port, and at other times linked up with people literally in the taxi queue or whilst browsing the tours that they offer.
