So are you Gold members or in a Suite? Maybe that's why. But why would you want another Leather wallet - wouldn't the first one be enough. Sorry, but I'm not understanding the need for all this stuff.

| Hi Jean, Admittedly it takes no time at all to write your cabin number on a label, but then how long does it take to put things right (and don't forget the unhappiness, distress and worry this could potentially cause) if someone wrote down the number incorrectly or simply wrote the wrong number? No, it's a recipe for disaster, an accident waiting to happen - trust me, where passengers have an opportunity of making a mistake - cut it off at the pass, destroy it at conception, just don't give it a chance of taking it's first breath of air. The simplest thing, and it would be cheaper in the long run for the cruise lines is to continue to issue pre-printeed luggage labels. If they wanted to print the labels out at the port, then some form of checkin procedure would have to be done at the point where the luggage is handed over to handling personnel. Now at Southampton Ocean Terminal that happens outside the actual building, so you will have staff and passengers alike getting cold or wet or hot and bothered or wind-blown - doesn't do much for the impression or concept of cruising. Additionally there would have to be some form of printing facility - this would have to be inside somewhere: I can't see this happening, and if it does then I can't see it working. The only way to deal with the matter of luggage labels is to carry on as the current method. As pointed out above, stopping the pre-printed labels is going to cost the cruise line provision and maintenance of facilities and equipment, not to mention salaries of personnel, slowing down the luggage check-in procedure - I can't see them running up costs and running down the impression which passengers could get if the present system radically changes.

I personally think it shouldn't be a problem. I hate having my handbag laden down with ticket booklet, passport etc. It's all I need. I mean what do you do with your ticket after the cruise? I bring mine home and shred it because there's too much info on it just to throw away!
Emma, as far as I'm aware they are still going to send out the luggage labels. It's just your cruise ticket that will be an e ticket.

| Hi Elaine, That's great - apart from the fact that I normally do an album after a jollyday, and I usually like to start it with a ticket and a luggage label - and then it goes on from there. If I do this electronically I scan in the various bits and pieces such as ticket and labels. However, I must admit that being able to 'checkin' on line is a dream, if not then just following the on screen instructions such as in T5 - it's brilliant, very good and I am fine with it. How this appeals to people who are not computer usrs, I don't know. I hope they still keep things like the nice gift vouchers though. Cheers.

Emma
I wouldn't be able to move in my house if I had a book for each cruise I'd been on. I keep all the menus and daily events for each cruise and then when we move DH makes me have a clear out! I mean I don't really bring them out and look at them.
Instead of scanning your ticket you will have to scan your e ticket instead!
I'm sure that earlier on in the thread someone reckoned you'd still get your luggage labels.

I know we're only 9 years in, but this is the 21st Century! Paper tickets are a thing of the past we're constantly being told. How come then that we still need tickets? I mean the ones that we have to print, using our paper and ink and not that of the carrier. My recent trip on Eurostar was a "paperless" ticket, but I still had to print out a bar code for the scanner at St Pancras. Adding insult to injury, the scanners were "out-of-order" on the day!

| Hi Elaine, Yes I have an album for each and every holiday or special event. It is a sort of rebellion against my husband's hobby which means cupboards full of printed matter etc. He is slowly even taking over my study! Anyway, I was pleased to purchase a P and O Arcadia album, and it is now suitably stuffed. So, one day when all the systems have changed and CDs and DVDs have long since been replaced by something smaller, quicker, with more capacity and more clarity, I shall still be able to spend some time happily looking though some really lovely times. Anyway, each to their own, but it floats my boat I suppose. Cheers

| We kept ALL the stuff/blurb for a long time. Now we keep just keep the cruise log,the tours brochure, WHEN THERE IS ONE! Take note P&O, it was not taken very well on Aurora R911, when no tours brochure was sent out. All those ports, and to ing and fro ing online to compare tours,(been on this discussion before.) You get to a point where you have to discard all that you have accumulated and just weed out the memories, that is what is important, IMO. Do we really want our offspring, after our days, to be either taking it all to the local recycling place, or trying to sell it on e bay to offset any IHT???

| Jean, Imagine 1.45pm - 2.pm approx 4 - 5 coaches arriving each with approx 45 - 50 passengers who have at least 1 suitcase each. Each coach unloaded, passengers scrambling to find their case/s, trying to find where to get luggage labels and write them out. Not to mention cars arriving and unloading with loads of luggage (as you can bring more stuff if you are in a car) and trying to do the same. One word - mayhem. Not bothered about a ticket but still want luggage labels in advance. Sandy
