| You see wannabe poseurs everywhere .. whether it is their insistence of wearing cloths with logos emblazoned over them (or worse still the really tacky concept of mixing their labels in a single outfit) ... rhyming off their list of cruises ... talking about their cars ... their glasses .. their handbag ... their electrical equipment ... particular brands of alcohol and wine ... or the most tacky and vulgar are those who insist on telling others how much they have spent on something. Some people are shallow minded and easily impressed by such things ... that's how the chav culture evolved .. I have never understood the extension of it beyond the 'chav' grouping though .. or maybe some people are just 'chavvie'.

My goggles are Gucci, and I love them, however I didn't buy them because they were Gucci, I bought them (or rather DH bought them for me) because I liked the frames and didn't even know they were designer until we saw the price. They do have the Gucci name on the side but it is very discreet and you wouldn't know unless you were up close and personal! When I need a new prescription I will just have new lenses put in the frames. I also have a Gucci watch which DH bought me when his mum died so I would have something lovely to remember her by. Again the name is very discreet. I also have some Primark shoes :-)

| I'm so pleased M&S hide their labels. Wouldn't want to be accused of being a poseur! Cheers Brenda

My glasses are Versace but I bought them because of their colour. Luckily the name is quite discreet and cannot be read unless you are next to me. I don't like an outward 'show' of labels.

Here's a question: How do you know if the label is genuine or not?

You don't. If you go around the back of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, there are shops selling designer labels in 'toilet rolls'

| Its just about impossible to buy a handbag these days without the logo attached to the outside and personally, I think the logo looks quite ugly and spoils the style of the bag itself. Carrier bag comes to mind.

| I think that with handbags it has got a little bit over the top - quite a lot of Radley bags have great big hanks of decorations hanging off the handle - I must admit I keep my little Radley dogs safely stowed away. It's not easy to disguise an Aspinall bag, but at least the logo is not too noticeable. However what annoys me is that I am expected to pay for items such as handbags etc with labels on the outside - hence I am doing glorified gussied-up advertising for them, and I don't get paid for that - what a cheek! I think that if they are going to put their logos on the outside then the item should be cheaper. That would be great - cheaper golf clothes and equipment, cheaper handbags; I wonder could that be stretched to cars?????? Dream on, I'll just dream on!
