| As others have said, the list is endless, you could spend a week in London, taking in the sights, as you could in any of our major cities, such as Liverpool etc. You have Snowdonia in Wales, The Highlands of Scotland, Kerry in Southern Ireland all offering some fantastic scenery, you would not be disappointed which ever one of these you choose. We all of course have our favourites and in the end you will be spoilt for choice. Whichever place or places you decide to visit, I am sure you will have a lovely time in this great country of ours, as I am sure you will on your cruise to the Baltic's. Enjoy.

| [quote] .... all the way from Australia ..... Hi Tony The few postings that I have seen of yours lead me to believe that you may appreciate some upmarket advice and better still to discover that Austalians have access to their very own online brochure for the company that I am about to mention. In this way you will be all booked up come Monday morning, note also that various discounts may be available to you. Insight Vacations are a Coach Tour Operator with a 'Bulletin Board' for any questions you may have plus they offer luxury land only tours throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales or various combinations thereof - We particularly enjoyed their "Country Roads of Ireland" tour. Their tours are English spoken and you will find fellow Australians plus really nice folk from Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, the USA and even the occasional Brit. We have traveled with this company for about 15 years and to many many destinations within Europe and the USA / Canada. In case you wish to check them out I have added the wwwdot, once this is entered it should 'auto route' you to the Oz site. http://www.insightvacations.com Hope this of some value to you. :-)

| If you have time come to Cornwall, we think that it is similar to the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. The weather will probably not be so good but this year it was good in April/May. It would be advisable to travel by rail so that you can admire the scenery on the way, especially at Dawlish and don't miss St. Ives, change at St. Earth on the main line from Paddington to Penzance. Best Wishes, Dorothy and Peter

| Edinburgh - make sure to make time to see the Royal Yacht Brittania. If you are 'into' cruising it is very interesting. Windsor Pretty villages in the Cotswolds There must be so many places but that's all I can think of immediately as have just been called because lunch is ready.

| Thanks for all the replies. Excellent suggustions. I have a full 16 days after the flight to the last day before the cruise departs. I had my ideas about finding a bus tour and with time left over to do my own thing. I have also come to realise that the British train system appears to have an extremely fast timetable compared to what I am used to in Australia. (almost 3hours to Sydney from where I live compared to 90 minutes by car!) I had the idea of roughing it first then relaxing in the cruise after. I like to live for the experience when travelling so will book both budget tour and also look for something classy for a bit of a treat. I try to keep open minded about what to see and love new and different places.

| Hi Tony If you want to visit old historical `cities` I would recommend, York, Durham, Canterbury and Edinburgh. Durham has one of the most impressive and I think the oldest cathedral in the UK. Scenery wise, without doubt the west coast of scotland, taking in the isle of skye.
