Weather is improving; forecast is cloudy with showers (although it’s sunny at the moment, more of that later) temperature 24C wind force 4, sea slight to moderate
Woke up at 7am this morning, turned on the webcam, it’s sunny and there are a few people our on deck 14 walking around, having a swim and yes you’ve guessed it putting their towels on the sunbeds….bring on the sun bed police
Off to breakfast, then dance class (tango) then probably vet’s talk followed by line dancing and lunch in Le Bistro.
Because of out position, in the middle of the Atlantic, Sky news and the cartoon network channels won’t be available until Sunday 8th, BBC Knowledge and BBC Lifestyle can no longer be shown because of a change of satellite feed. The drama and comedy channel is also experiencing technical difficulties and is being removed from the circuit for the rest of the cruise. At the moment we have webcam Oceana, adverts for on board services e.g. florist, Oceana position with weather etc, endless loop for the onboard Whitewall gallery, photographers film advert for DVD, repeats of tour desk’s talk on next port of call plus 2 film channels
John’s seen his first wild life. There’s been a Petrel skimming the water, several shoals of flying fish and a butterfly, not sure if the butterfly has been hitching a lift or is being blown across the seas by the wind.
The Tango dance class was full this morning, but once again the afternoon class has been cancelled because of rehearsals in the Starlight Show Lounge. Last time this happened we has a class in the Atrium but this afternoon there are talks planned there.
Talks and seminars today are, birthstones, create a DVD slideshow, detox for health, port talk for St Lucia, learn about your compact camera, anti aging eye strategy x2, body wraps, speed up your PC, art talk, Nikon and canon demox2, stone massage talk, digital photo editing, acupuncture, story of ships, bad hair days, Hollywood Smile teeth whitening, digital photo basics, in addition there are numerous quizzes, deck games, fitness classes and this afternoon the film matinee is Slumdog Millionaire.
This evening there is a fashion show, 2 performances from Rob Boyd. cruise director, in his own show and 2 performances by Steve Larkin’s (vocal impressionist best known for Freddie Mercury).
1pm and there’s a shower, so everyone’s diving for cover or lunch. We ate in Le Bistro, John had Pork with a double helping of French fries (the fries are presented in their own little deep fat fryer basket), while I had the Pave with egg mayonnaise. Puddings available were, blackberry cheesecake, death by chocolate gateau, white chocolate gateau, chocolate éclair, fresh fruit salad and bakewell tart.
This evening there was a diamond jewellery sale 25% off,I was tempted by 3 stone aquamarine ring (well it matched the dress I was wearing) but it wasn’t my size and so they would have to order one, but it couldn’t be sent to Spain, so I obviously wasn’t meant to have it. Roll on the jewellers in St Martin. However. The day we are in St Martin is a major public holiday so the tour people are suggesting that not much, if anything will be open. Can’t quite see that myself as 4 ships will be in port that day, Carnival Glory, Emerald. Sea Princess and us and I don’t think the shops will pass up the chance of that much business, but we’ll have to see.
We dined in the Plaza once more, so we could see the early and late shows. First we saw Cruise Director Rob Boyd’s performance in the Footlights theatre, but it was overshadowed by far by Steve Larkin’s tribute to Freddie Mercury ‘Mercury Rising’ which had everyone clapping and singing along, he received a well deserved standing ovation.
Dinner menu was traditional English, roast beef (didn’t have rare though’), Yorkshire puddings (huge), roast potatoes, veg, lamb hotpot, mashed potato, black pudding fritters, haggis, fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, rhubarb crumble and custard, sherry trifle, Baileys cheese cake, whisky tart.
Clocks go back an hour again tonight

| Sandy and John, I love reading your cruise reports as we were on the cruise before you. I loved the Great British Menu night in the Plaza! Hope you continue to have a fantastic time x
