| Looks like the radical reforms proposed to curb MPs expenses are to be scrapped, Sir Ian Kenndy who was chosen by no other than the speaker of the house of commons (another fraudster) to oversee these expenses has decided that the original proposals made by Sir Christopher Kelly are far too radical to implement and will now delay his own report and measures to be taken, until after the next election. Stinks!!!!!!

Whilst reform is recognised as being required, perhaps an atmosphere of calm and consideration is at last gaining the ascendency not to "throw the baby out with the bathwater".

| Derek Don`t think so somehow, it will only fuel the tax payers anger and quite rightly so.

| MPs, who are not ministers, are deserving of a decent salary, appropriate out-of-pocket expenses for either a "crash-pad" or hotel accommodation near Westminster., appropriate out-of-pocket expenses for traveling to & from their constituency on a Sunday night/Monday morning and Friday night, appropriate out-of-pocket-expenses for travelling elsewhere on constituency business, and for salaries for staff and establishment costs to run their Westminster and constituency offices. Ministers, who are MPs, get an upgraded salary to reflect their office, and some travel and accommodation will come with the job depending on rank. Such perks should be taken into consideration when processing any of their MPs expense claim entitlements. As regards, employing wives/husbands or a relative as a secretary or other role (either Westminster or constituency based): often a life partner is the best candidate for the job and will work over and above what another person may be prepared to commit to. Vacancies for such roles should be advertised and an independent body should do the interviewing and appointing (together with annual appraising), and wives/husbands and relatives of an MP should be able to apply for a role, and the best man/women available gets the job.

| What nonsence!!!!! your defence of these rogues is admiral but does not reflect the opinion of the vast majority of voters whom will probably boycott the next election because of their greed and incompetance.

It's unlikely the "vast majority of voters" will boycott the election.
And, if that happened purely over MPs expenses then the UK is in serious trouble. There are far more important issues to vote on.

| Derek and David, I agree with both of your posts. However, surely you can see Chickadee's point. She is not alone in feeling disgust at the proven abuse of our money by our elected members. I cannot believe that either of you would condone a 'cast a blind eye' policy. Perhaps I am wrong. Helen

Helen, no of course not - it's just there are more important issues for the country to face.
It needs to be sorted, but not by boycotting the election.

| Chickadee: I'm sorry that you feel that a fair and appropriate compensation culture is not a means forward for our elected representatives. Whilst I'm sure there are folk who have been "turned-off" the democratic process and will not vote at the next General Election, most of the electorate still will, although I would concede that some sitting MPs, whether it is deserving or not (on an individual basis) may lose some of their vote to other candidates, because of the "expenses scandal".

| David m I said the vast majority of voters would boycott the election over their `expenses AND incompetance`, admittedly, I should have said the vast majority of `labour voters` considering the party has made a mess of this countries finances, while fiddling their expenses courtesy of the tax payer.
