Most people think cruises cost the earth but we got a really good deal on E927.

What you would spend on a self catering holiday-excursions, food and drinks, shows, getting to and from the airport etc it makes sense to cruise.

Out of curiosity-had a look at Turkey all inclusive next year for 2adults and a child-was going to cost us £2500 at least.

Got Ventura priced up for Caribbean next year and that was only £200 dearer.

I know what I would choose-but instead decided to go to Florida.

I didn't start cruising until I was 41, and I wish I had started earlier, but in my 30's we tended to go to the USA a few holidays.  Never mind, I intend to make up for lost time now !

Hi Matt,

I am 29 and cruise. Not on my own with my parents but still have a fantastic time meeting new people. I am not brave enough to go alone! I have not long returned from 16 nights around the med on Aurora and now looking for next years trip! Have a small mini break on Ocena in April.

Hi Matt

I traveled on Ventura in April (for my 30th) with my daughter (13) and it seemed as though I was on my own in the evenings as my daughter always visited kids clubs. For the first week, the evenings were nice but some company would have been nice. Thankfully during the second week, I had meet someone on one of the excursions who was also at a loose end in the evenings. We had opted for freedom dining (as we liked the flexibility) and went for dinner early as my daughter wanted to get to club asap. We always (apart from one occasion) had a table for two. I think, looking back in hindsight, we should have opted for set dining as this would have given me the opportunity to get to know a few more people.

We are again going on Oceana at Easter and even though my comments above regarding freedom dining, I have still booked this option.

In addition, we are also traveling on Ventura in July for a week around the Fjords and then remaining onboard for the next week. Can't wait!

I hope you enjoy your cruise!

We started crusing when we were in our mid thirties and boys aged 13 and 15. The boys are still coming with us at 20 and 22, they love it. I am sure they will keep going and when they have families of their own bring them as well.

We will be on a cruise for my youngest sons 21st.
