| The wine line works well. By consulting "tonights" menu you can order up to late in the afternoon appropriate selections from the wine-list which will be on (or close to your table for white wine/dessert wine) when you arrive. This is important for me as I like to maximise on white, red and "dessert" wines across the courses. I get the sommeliier to open all the wines when we arrive, for tasting. These men and women are over-stretched in the dining rooms and I don't particularly fancy a Gran Reserva Red Rioja with Creme Brulee. In saying that, I do bring from home (or purchase at ports-of-call) premium wines which, coupled with the £10 corkage (less prevailing Portunus discount) represents excellent value for money.

| Derek, As has been said, each to his own. What you do suits and works well. That is why the service exists. I, for one, have taken a pint into the dining room that was full and had taken a while to arrive in the bar. It didn't feel out of place at all. Everyone should drink what they want in the manner that they want to. Having three wines over the course of dinner is too much of a faff for me. But that doesn't mean I'm wrong.......just different. Happy cruising everyone! Eddie

| Eddie: I still feel that a pint of beer should not be carried from the bar (which might be quite a distance away) to the restaurant, and especially on a ship, slopping all over the place and others. I would not take kindly to someone spilling some smelly old ale on Mrs Kane or myself. There is a 10 minute window from "curtain-up" for dinner to finish off your pre-dinner beverage of choice and get to your table, although why one would order a whole pint a few minutes before "the gong", defeats me.

| Derek The more I read you comments on this matter, the more I am aware of what an uncouth being I am, devoid of all social graces and not really a fit person to frequent a cruise ship. Heaven forbid that I spill my smelly ale on anyone. For you, mixing with the likes of me must be a real exercise in self control. In fact I am sure that at times when you come up against the hordes and us plebs you must feel a bit like a missionary.

| Jen34: I do not believe in a deity, and therefore cannot be one either. It is all about common courtesy and consideration for others. Negotiating stairs, passage ways and "chicaning" around the tables, especially if the ship is "moving", whilst carrying a pint of ale, and many passengers are milling about, is not a good idea. Finish your drink in the bar.

| Hi, i dont think you shoud worry. I like to have a beer now and again instead of wine which is my normal drink. Although when i was on Oceana in October, if ever i ordered a carlsberg the wine waiter would think it was for my hubbie, and give it to him! Have a fab time and drink whatever you fancy, so what if people look down at you, this happens in life but do not stop being true to yourself because of what others may or may not think! X
