I enjoy a bottle of lager, in a glass, in the main dining room, when having a lunchtime curry.

Derek, I did my best not to spill it but I take your point nonetheless. In my case we were on Freedom Dining on Ventura. We had been given a pager and as soon as I had ordered the drinks the pager went off. The drinks then arrived 5 minutes later so I had to carry my pint and a glass of red one down one flight from The Exchange via the Atrium to the Cinnamon Restaurant in order to claim our table. There was not a lot I could do in the circumstances. However I would have loved not to have had to do it, but I was certainly not going to leave drinks I had paid for. If you are on Club Dining then there isn't the same issue. Eddie

| Another thought. If I had my time again I would have gone to Tazine which is adjacent to the Restaurant but at the time I didn't realise it was open for the sale of alcohol at night. They do, however, also serve drinks to those sitting in the Atrium. Very civilised! Eddie

| Derek has a point about carrying drinks around the ship. I always remember a vivid 'elf and safety' video we saw at work, when somebody spilt their coffee on the stairs and didn't mop it up, then another person came along, slipped on the coffee and fell down the stairs and broke their leg Now that really would spoil a cruise !

| bear - I'm used to that as well - I like pints and a male friend of mine likes those horrible alco-pops - guess which way they are always handed out!

We have carried our drinks into the restaurant before now, normally a G and T, never spilt a drop yet. We have ordered our pre dinner drinks in plenty of time but sometimes they don't turn up until we are about to go into dinner and I am certainly not going to throw a drink down my throat or leave it. Given the choice I prefer not to have to carry a drink into the restaurant but it's no big deal if I do and in my opinion not uncouth at all.

I still can't get the quotes bit to work.
Derek "The Monocled Mutineer" Kane* (2002) 17/12/2008 said, "The wine line works well. By consulting "tonights" menu you can order up to late in the afternoon appropriate selections from the wine-list which will be on (or close to your table for white wine/dessert wine) when you arrive. This is important for me as I like to maximise on white, red and "dessert" wines across the courses."I like the surprise of reading the menu when I arrive at the table. Life must a real hoot in your world if you have to plan your evening's eating & drinking in advance.

my husband always took his pint of lager to the restuarnt and always made sure to drink some of it before leaving the bar so as not too spill any over anyone or anywhere,by the way we were on freedom dining, and each to their own if a lady wants to drink a pint of beer then why not?not that I would myself.

going slightly of topic but every night after a show in the arena on the Ventura we were amazed to see how many glassess and bottles were left behind on the stair ways, considering there was always a waiter waiting outside with a tray to take them off you.
