4x4 Adventure to Cockpit Mountain

Experience the Good Hope Estate and Jamaica’s Cockpit Mountain on a 4x4 off-road adventure.

Setting off from the port of Falmouth, you’ll take a drive in a 4x4 open air vehicle through the Jamaican countryside and on to the Good Hope Estate. The 18th century great house is set in peaceful surroundings overlooking the Queen of Spain Valley, the tranquil Martha Brae River and the mysterious Cockpit Mountains.

Afterwards, your 4x4 adventure will continue to Cockpit Country, an unspoilt inland area of Jamaica. Due to its unique location, you’ll find a rich diversity of thriving flora and fauna including land snails, reptiles, birds and mammals, which you may see during your journey. You’ll also pass through the small local communities, which will offer an insight into the local culture.

During your tour, water and fruit punch refreshments will be available.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by jeep and on foot. Pregnant women and children under 6 may not participate. The terrain in Cockpit Country is uneven and rough. Comfortable, flat closed toe shoes are essential. This tour is not suitable for those with injuries or conditions, which may be affected by the bumpy ride.

Appleton Rum Experience

Visit the famous Appleton Estate rum distillery for an insight into the rum making process and taste some of the world finest rums.

Tucked among the green trees, overlooking the blue Rois Lagoon is the Appleton Rum Seminar in Falmouth. Here you will learn to be a rum historian, distiller, and connoisseur in one session. Rum-punch in hand, your guide will lead you through the fascinating storyboards, explaining how sugarcane is magically transformed into golden Appleton rum. The magical process involves growing, pressing, distilling, blending, and aging the sweet sugar-water into the most heavenly spirits man has ever sipped.

Appleton rum of St. Elizabeth Parish is part of Jamaican history. Dating back to 1749, it is the oldest distillery on the island, producing some of the finest rum in the world. Your education in rum production completed, now you will learn to serve as a professional rum taster. Appleton’s blender will teach you how to distinguish between the "Signature Blend" (aged 4 years); "Reserve Blend" (aged 6 years); and "Rare Blend" (aged 12 years). Apply all your senses as you compare the amber shades, inhale the subtle bouquet, and taste the fruity oak-barrel flavours.

Afterwards, you’ll have time to visit the gift shop where you can find every variety of Appleton rum and souvenirs of your time in Jamaica.

Blue Waters Beach Transfer

If it’s just time on the beach you’re looking for, then this simple transfer to Blue Waters Beach club is the perfect option.

Blue Waters Beach Club is paradise, known for its dramatic sunsets, silky white sand and crystal clear turquoise water. Setting off from the port of Falmouth, you’ll take a short bus transfer Blue Waters Beach.

Soak up the Caribbean sun and relax in an atmosphere that is totally Caribbean. The natural attributes of this phenomenal beach are alluring to the soul. A beach chair and wifi are at your disposal. Dance to the rhythms of Jamaica and international music, join in the fun and games from a local DJ and win prizes!

After your stay, you’ll meet back with your driver at the agreed time for the return transfer to the ship.

This excursion will operate by bus and on foot. There are toilet and changing facilities available on the beach. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase and US Dollar currency is required. Please refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages prior to any swimming activities. Umbrellas are not included but are available for hire, subject to availability. Passengers are reminded to wear swimwear, take a towel and sunscreen. There may be independent suppliers on the beach that offer watersports. These are provided by parties unconnected to P&O Cruises. The beach is public and may become busy.

Bob Marley by Zion Bus

A must for all Bob Marley fans. An opportunity to visit the birth (and final resting) place of the Rasta legend.

Board the brightly coloured Zion Bus for a sightseeing trip with a difference, as you take a scenic drive through rural St Ann’s and Claremont.

Rock to the rhythms of the Reggae superstar, as you wind your way through the narrow country lanes and listen to the fascinating facts about the life of Bob Marley. You’ll arrive in the mountain village of Nine Miles, where you’ll see the legend’s birthplace and final resting place.

Capture the atmosphere at the ‘Graceland’ of Reggae and let the nostalgia set in before heading back to Ocho Rios.

During your tour a tasty Jamaican jerk lunch will be served.

This excursion will operate by bus and on foot. Participants must be over 18 years of age. There is approximately 1½ hours’ walking over some gravel and rough ground. Comfortable, flat, walking shoes are recommended.

Dunns River Express with Lunch

Experience the spectacular Dunns River Falls and enjoy a typical Jamaican lunch at Cutlass Bay beach.

Departing from the cruise ship pier in Falmouth, enjoy a spectacular sightseeing journey through Discovery Bay where Christopher Columbus landed and Runaway Bay where the Spanish escaped a British pursuit.

Arriving in Ocho Rios, you’ll visit to Dunn’s River Falls, surrounded by a rain forest canopy, this national treasure is a fate of nature. Walk down an array of stairs built in the mountainside to the starting point of this unique excursion.

As you hike up the waterfalls, enjoy the sensation as the tumbling water makes its way to the Caribbean Sea. You will also enjoy a dip in the many pools along the route. Ascend the waterfalls making your way along the limestone rocks. For the not so adventurous, enjoy watching from a vantage point above the river.

Continue on to Cutlass Bay beach for the ultimate relaxation, buffet lunch of Jerk Chicken, Rice & Peas. After lunch, you’ll make a stop for a spot of souvenir shopping before returning to the pier.

This excursion will operate by bus and on foot. Journey time is approximately 1 hour each way. The Dunn’s River Falls climb is strenuous and slippery, over uneven rock surfaces. The whole climb takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Passengers climbing the Falls must wear water shoes (flip-flops and sandals are not suitable). Aqua shoes are available for rent. Please take swimwear, towel and US Dollars or credit cards for purchasing photos or hiring shoes. Guides at the Dunn’s River Falls generally expect tips. This tour is not suitable for those with injuries or conditions, which may be affected by the bumpy ride. Pregnant women and children under 5 may not participate.
