Brimming with history, there are dozens of museums with artefacts shedding light on the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. But for the ultimate historical high, take a boat tour to the ancient Lycian tombs, carved into the cliff face. Beach Resort Getaway

Relax in the sun at Hotel Marti, ideally located in the attractive resort of Icmelar Bay.

Embark on a relaxing drive to the popular resort of Icmelar Bay, where you’ll find the Hotel Marti. This 5 star hotel is situated in an excellent location with its own private sandy beach.

You’ll have around 3½ hours to spend at the Hotel Marti. Relax on the beach and enjoy the surroundings, take a refreshing dip in the sea, or perhaps purchase a spot of lunch in one of the hotel’s restaurants.

At the agreed time, you’ll re-group at the designated meeting point for the return drive to your ship.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. This tour is inclusive of transfers, a sun lounger and umbrella (per 2 passengers). Passengers are reminded to take swimwear, a towel and sunscreen with them. This tour does not include lunch or any refreshments. Please refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages prior to swimming. Dalyan River and Ancient Caunos

Visit the 2 most striking spots in the Marmaris area; Dalyan and Caunos.

A scenic drive of around 1½ hours will take you to the tiny village of Dalyan, an area of stunning natural beauty and home to the endangered Loggerhead Turtles. Life in Dalyan revolves around the Dalyan Cayi River which flows past the town, and after driving past the small mosque and the famous monumental statue of the area’s legendary turtles, you’ll board a motorboat for a leisurely boat ride.

As you wind your way along the river’s canals and through a maze of reeds, your knowledgeable guide will provide you with interesting facts on the area.

Arriving in Caunos, you’ll walk up the hillside to the ruins of the ancient city, which according to Greek mythology was built by the grandson of Apollo. Although Caunos is now set back from the sea, its former waterfront location made it an important trading post. Your guide will lead you around the site, passing the impressive rock-cut Lycian Tombs, the Acropolis, amphitheatre and Roman baths. Listen carefully as they bring to life the history of this ancient city.

Your boat will then take you back to Dalyan to board your coach for the return journey to the ship.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by coach, boat and on foot. There is approximately 1-1 ½ hours of walking on this tour over varying terrain, including uneven ground. Flat, comfortable shoes are essential. The ground at Caunos is rough and uneven. A small snack box will be provided during the boat cruise.

Dalyan River and Turtle Beach

Enjoy a leisurely boat ride along the Dalyan Cayi River, before some free time to relax in the sun at Turtle Beach.

After a scenic drive of around 1½ hours you’ll arrive at the pretty fishing village of Dalyan, where you’ll board a motorboat for a leisurely boat ride along the Dalyan Cayi River.

As your boat winds its way down the river’s canals and through a maze of reeds, you’ll pass cotton plantations and tiny islands. Have your camera ready as you pass the magnificent, ancient Lycian tombs carved into the rocky cliffs and dating back to 4th century B.C.

Afterwards, continue to Iztuzu Beach, more popularly known as ‘Turtle Beach’ due to the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtles that use this golden sandy beach as one of their main breeding grounds. You’ll have around 1 hour at Iztuzu Beach to spend relaxing in the sun and swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea.

This excursion will operate by coach, boat and on foot. Strict government regulations are in place at Iztuzu Beach to protect the turtles; only designated areas will be accessible. Passengers must refrain from entering any areas of the beach which are signposted as out of bounds. Please remember to take swimwear, sunscreen and a towel. Beach chairs and umbrellas are not included but may be available for hire, payable locally, these may be limited. The sighting of wildlife is not guaranteed. A small snack box will be provided on board the boat. Please refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages prior to swimming. Panoramic Marmaris

A leisurely way to experience the charming villages and natural beauty that surround Marmaris.

Embark on a scenic drive, passing through beautiful areas lined with pine forests. During the drive, your knowledgeable guide will enlighten you with interesting facts about the area.

Your first stop is at the Sakar Mountain pass, where you’ll visit a local tea house for a refreshing cup of traditional Turkish tea. Take some time to marvel at the superb view of Gokova Bay, before your leisurely drive continues to Akyaka.

This tiny town is a quiet retreat away from bustling Marmaris and boasts delightful old houses that were restored in the 1970’s in a blend of traditional Ottoman, Turkish and Aegean architecture and which later developed into a style unique to Akyaka.

After a leisurely walk through the town, re-board your coach and continue to a charming, Ottoman style hotel where local refreshments will be served.

During the return journey, a stop will be made at a viewpoint offering a wonderful panoramic view of Icmeler Bay and the beautiful Marmaris bay.

Turkish Bath Experience

Rejuvenate your body and mind, with a traditional Turkish bath.

Turkish baths are part of Turkish culture, and in the past all towns in Turkey had a bathhouse, where local people gathered each week to relax and exchange gossip. Take this opportunity to indulge in a traditional ‘hamam’ (Turkish bath).

Upon arrival at the hamam, enjoy an apple tea, as the details of your Turkish bath experience are explained.

Afterwards, change into your swimwear and head to the marble-lined bath chamber, where you’ll relax in the steam room, in preparation for your Turkish bath.

At the heart of the hamam is the ‘Gobek Tasi’ (Naval Stone); A raised marble platform positioned directly over the wood or coal fire furnaces that heat the premises. Here you will receive your 1st massage – a brisk rub down with a loofah mitt to remove dead skin. The 2nd masseur will then cover you from head to toe with soap bubbles out of a soap filled pillowcase and massage your body, untying all those knots.

Wash off with a shower, and then relax with a refreshing drink, before returning to the ship.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Males and females will bathe in mixed areas of the Turkish bath. A thin bath towel will be provided to wear over swimwear. Please remember to bring your swimwear. Towels will be provided. Passengers must be physically fit for this tour with no breathing or heart problems. A Turkish bath is a hot and steamy environment. The floor in the Turkish bath is slippery, so please watch your step at all times. The basic package (bath, rub down and bubble bath) will be provided in the bath, any additional packages are available at a further cost. Please carry euros or US dollars for any additional services. The hamam is open to the general public and is not exclusive to this tour. Children are not permitted on this tour.
