The Best of Samos

Sample the best of Samos, including the quaint Archaeological Museum, Kokkari village and the birthplace of Pythagoras.

Embark on a short drive to the compact and fascinating Archaeological Museum of Samos, where you can discover ancient artefacts from the island’s digs. The collection includes finds from the excavation of the Temple of Hera and sculptures and pottery from the Classical period.

Surrounded by pine, olive trees and vineyards, is the picture-postcard village of Kokkari. This popular seaside village is the perfect place to enjoy some free time to explore the narrow streets and alleys filled with shops, tavernas, restaurants and bars or take a paddle in the crystal clear Aegean sea.

A brief photo stop will be made to view the remains of the Heraion Temple. Unfortunately fire and other disasters have reduced the sanctuary to complete ruins and the only visible element of its former greatness is 1 single column.

Continue onto Pythagorion, a pretty town on the southern side of the island, renamed in the last century to honour of Samos’ most famous son. Explore the island’s most picturesque town during free time or enjoy a relaxing stroll along the bay.
