About St. Barts

A large dash of French chic makes St. Bart’s feel more like Antibes than Antigua.

Tiny and serene this hilly island originated from ancient coral reefs and is considered one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. When you discover its idyllic blend of white sands, crystal clear waters and green, undulating landscape, you will understand why.

Its combination of style and glorious natural scenery make it popular with the rich and famous who like to escape here during winter. In the picturesque port town of Gustavia, you can soak up the isles distinctly continental charm. Its vista of red-roofed buildings provides the backdrop to numerous duty free boutiques, a yacht-filled harbour and a very relaxed lifestyle. After a few hours exploring, head up to Grand Fonds for wonderful views.

With over 20 beaches here you will be spoilt for choice. Two of the most pristine are Saline and Governor on the southern side. Enjoy a spot of snorkelling or simply bask in the sun.

Island Profile

Activity low

Duration: 1 hour

A short overview to discover the unique island of St Barts.

This scenic drive, by local taxi van, provides the perfect opportunity to see the highlights of the island.

Beautiful, enchanting, unspoiled, intimate—these are just some of the adjectives often used to describe St Barths. Your driver may point out places of interest and offer excellent views of the picturesque harbour. The tour continues through the hills and along the winding roads to St Jean Bay - a striking area lined with boutique hotels and restaurants and then on to Salines, the salt pond area, this was once the most industrial part of the island and from here salt was exported to many islands throughout the Caribbean. It is now famous for its clothing optional beach.

At Grand Fonds, you’ll have a wonderful view overlooking the green valley towards the raging ocean breaking on the shore. This is the windy part of the island and the landscape here is very different in comparison with the rest of St Barts. After your brief overview of the island, you’ll drive along the north coast and back to Gustavia.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by taxi van. Please note that this tour is not guided and your driver will not act as a guide. The transportation in St Bart’s is very limited and air-conditioning is not always available.
