Welcome to Washington - BEST SELLER

An introduction to the most famous monuments, memorials and architectural structures of Washington D.C., the nation’s capital.

Begin your tour at the Lincoln Memorial. Its marble structure has 36 exterior columns representing the 36 states at the time of President Lincoln’s assassination. The Korean War Memorial consists of several sections, including a triangular ‘field of service’ depicting a platoon of 19 larger-than-life American soldiers of different ethnic backgrounds. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial features the names of more than 58,000 dead or missing servicemen and women inscribed in granite sheets.

Continue for some free time for a quick lunch and a spot of shopping at Union Station. Enjoy a visit to the Air and Space Museum where you’ll have approximately an hour to explore the exhibits, including the Wright brothers’ plane, the Spirit of St Louis, which Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic in 1923 as well as the Apollo 11 module that landed on the moon.

Towering 500 feet above the city and still regarded as the world’s largest masonry structure, you’ll have a photostop at the Washington Monument. During your panoramic drive of the city, you’ll also pass by The White House, Capitol Building, Library of Congress, Jefferson Memorial and many other Washington attractions.

War and Remembrance

Interested in American military and history? Take this opportunity to visit the major war memorials and Arlington Cemetery.

Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place for thousands of American soldiers from the Civil War to the present, including the tombs of John F. Kennedy and the ‘Challenger’ crew as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The National World War II Memorial is dedicated to all who served during World War II and is a monument to the spirit, sacrifice and commitment of the American people. The Pulitzer Prize winning photo of a group of marines raising the flag atop Mt Suribachi inspired the Iwo Jima statue, now probably one of the most recognisable symbols of war.
