View the highlights and see the intriguing tropical bustle of Belize City.
Belize City is the grand lady of the colonial era of Belize, referred to by Belizeans simply as ‘Belize’. Situated at the mouth of the Belize River, the city has access to rivers, the ocean and the major roads of Belize. Today Belize City is the county’s biggest urban enclave and port of entry, with nearly all journeys of Belize beginning and ending here. With no high-rises, and only three traffic lights, the city is criss-crossed with narrow streets and lined with a mixture of old, wooden colonial homes, combined with modern cement structures.
Though perched on the edge of the Caribbean, Belize City is a contrast to its neighbours, which makes it all the more exciting to explore. With an antiquated feel, the city is alive with culture and aspiration, and your tour will delve into the contrasts hidden within the city.
The many landmarks include the 200 year-old cathedral where several Mosquito Coast Kings were crowned and the famous Baron Bliss Lighthouse, marking the grave of the Baron who left a great deal of his fortune to Belize.
