As you enter the old city of Constanta, have your camera at the ready for the famous statue of the Roman poet ‘Ovid’, sculpted in 1888 by Ettore Ferrari. The Archaeological Museum is one of the richest in the country, and holds an amazing collection of prehistorical, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Medieval artefacts. The remarkable statues of Fortuna Goddess, Pontos God and the Glycon Snake are also on display.
Stroll through the Old Town passing the Turkish Mosque with a 155 foot high minaret, it is the most important mosque in Constanta. In the centre, visit the Orthodox Cathedral, St Peter and Paul for an introduction to the world of Orthodoxism. Afterwards, take in the beautiful views over the harbour from the impressive Casino.
Murfatlar Vineyard is situated in the south east between the Danube and Black Sea, in the centre of the Dobrudja Plateau and spreads over several villages covering more than 2,600 hectares. During your visit to a wine cellar, sample some of the most popular wines from the region, whilst listening to some Romanian folk music.
