Saint Pierre

Absorb the history of Saint Pierre and enjoy the coastal sights of Martinique.

Setting off from the port you’ll take a scenic drive along the west coast road and on to Saint Pierre.

The city was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1902 killing 30,000 inhabitants. Today the town attracts visitors to its fascinating ‘Volcanologial Museum’, which explains the dramatic events surrounding the eruption.

Afterwards, your return journey to Fort de France will take you back along the same west coast road, stopping en-route to visit the lovely Balata Church, a mini replica of the Sacred Heart Basilica of montmatre in Paris. This charming church was built in 1925 and has an elevated location offering panoramic views of the town of Fort-de-France and its bay.

Discover Martinique

Make the most of your time in Martinique and visit some of the island’s historic locations and beautiful sights and scenery.

Setting off the port enjoy a scenic drive as you head to Sainte Marie, for a visit to the factory of Sainte James, where you can sample some excellent local rum.

Afterwards, your drive continues to the small village of Morne Rouge, where you will enjoy a delicious Caribbean lunch. The village lies at the foot of the Mount Pelée volcano and is well known for its spring water, tropical flowers and garden products.

Its then time to head to Saint Pierre, one of the most famous places on the island due to the devastating volcano of 1902. Thirty thousand people perished, with a prisoner in an underground prison being one of the lucky survivors.

Your return journey will go via the west coast of the island, taking you back to Fort de France.

Martinique by Land and Sea

Travel by three different ways will allow you discover the beautiful island of Martinique.

After a short drive, you’ll stop at Balata church to see the miniature replica of the Basilica of Montmartre in Paris. Your journey continues along the scenic west coast, passing through small fishing villages before arriving into Saint Pierre.

Upon arrival, your mode of transport will change, as you board a little train for a short ride around Saint Pierre and the Volcanological Museum. Learn, about the devastating eruption of 1902 and the only survivor, a prisoner named Cyparis.

A 75-minute boat ride allows you to see the west coast from a different angle, as you enjoy a leisurely cruise. Relax and take in the splendid views of Martinique.

During your tour a soft drink or rum punch refreshment will be served during the boat ride.

Martinique 4x4 Adventure

Enjoy a jeep ride, heading off the beaten track to discover the contrasting scenery of Martinique.

Your 4x4 adventure begins as you head inland, taking in island views and wading through rivers, before entering the off-road rainforest tracks. The natural environment of the rainforest provides lush vegetation in tranquil surroundings.

As your journey continues, you’ll pass by banana and sugar cane fields, taking in valley and mountain scenery before arriving at the Argis Waterfalls. You’ll have the opportunity to relax and enjoy some refreshments whilst taking in the surrounding natural beauty.

Afterwards you’ll head back along the inland roads before returning to Fort de France.

Gardens of Martinique - SOMETHING DIFFERENT

An opportunity to explore the charming botanical gardens of Martinique.

Setting off from the port, you’ll take a scenic drive heading west along the coastline and on to the village of Carbet, location of the Anse Latouche Gardens.

Created amongst the ruins of one of the oldest plantations on the island, the gardens are home to a variety of plant species, including cacti. Enjoy a stroll through pleasant surroundings and discover the nature and history of the gardens. During your visit you’ll be offered a juice or rum punch refreshment.

Afterwards, your journey will head back along the same west coast road and on to the Balata Gardens. This botanical paradise offers a more tropical feel and is home to over 200 plant varieties. Continue your discovery of the island’s flora and fauna, as you take a walk through the gardens.

As you return to the pier, a brief photo-stop will be made for you to admire the Church of Balata.

Maxi Catamaran Sail - NEW

Discover the coastal beauty of Martinique and Anse Noire Bay, the island’s striking black beach.

As the wind pushes against the sails, you’ll slowly glide away from Fort de France. Sit back and relax and take in the impressive panoramic views of the picturesque coastline.

As you arrive into Anse Noire Bay, you’ll drop anchor off shore and catch sight of the black beach, which contrasts beautifully with the neighbouring white sand beach of Anse Dufor Bay. During your stay you’ll have the opportunity to swim or snorkel, and for those who wish to spend time on the beach, a small tender will be ready to transfer you across. Alternatively you may choose to stay on board and simply soak up the sun.

Afterwards, you’ll head back to Fort de France, with a brief stop en-route at the Bat Cave. A short tender ride will take you across for a bird’s eye view of this fascinating cave.

During your tour, unlimited soft drink refreshments will be available, with rum punch being served on the return journey.
