Step back in time and experience La Antigua Guatemala’s rich architecture and impressive remains.

La Antigua Guatemala has been declared a World Heritage Site due to its wealth of colonial architecture. Toppled by earthquakes, the preserved ruins include fallen domes adorned with creeping vines, 300-year-old convents, plazas and chapels that were miraculously spared.

Visit the Casa K’Ojom Museum. K'Ojom, meaning ‘music’ is an interactive museum where festivities, dances and traditions offer an insight into this fascinating region.

You’ll see the magnificent church of La Merced, built in 1867, with its beautiful façade and Convent. At San Francis Church and Museum, you’ll learn about Saint Hermano Pedro, and the lives of the Franciscan Order in Guatemala.

Enjoy a buffet lunch at one of the city’s hotels accompanied by local Marimba music.

During your tour, you’ll have chance to photograph the many wonderful churches and enjoy a stop at a jade factory.

Highlands Lake and Landscapes

Visit the heart of the Mayan world and take a fascinating trip into the Guatemalan Highlands to enchanting Lake Atitlan.

From lowlands to highlands, this scenic drive takes you past volcanic mountains and farmlands, with views of coastal villages and agricultural communities.

On arrival at the lakeside town of San Lucas Toliman, you’ll board a boat for an unforgettable hour long trip across Lake Atitlan to Panajachel.

As you explore the centre of the little community of Panajachel, you’ll enjoy views of what has been described as ‘the most beautiful lake in the world’. You’ll have time to shop and browse for local handicrafts such as wooden masks, blankets and leather. Modern Indians often wear clothing made of elaborate weavings and decorative stitching that tell their people’s story.

Chapin Safari

Enjoy an ‘African-style safari’ in the heart of Guatemala from the comfort of your coach.

Sit back and relax during a scenic drive viewing volcanoes, which dominate the distant horizon. Upon arrival at the zoo, you’ll be given a brief orientation and receive a printed guide of the zoological park to enhance your visit.

Relax and take in the sights as you drive through the zoo, passing a variety of different animals such as hippopotamus, giraffes, lions, rhinoceros, zebras and many other animals from Africa and Guatemala.

Take a walk around an area, which is more like a regular zoo, to view animals, birds and reptiles indigenous to Guatemala, as well as species from around the world.

A refreshing beer or soft drink will be served in the pavilion, prior to your drive back to Puerto Quetzal.

Coffee Estate and Panorama

An opportunity to visit a Guatemalan coffee estate and sample some aromatic flavours.

Enjoy a scenic drive through the lowlands and on to the Filadelfia Coffee Estate, an ecological project covering an area of approximately 250 acres of land. The Estate runs reforestation programmes seeding White Pine, Gravilea, mahogany, cedar and cypress, and contributes to the well being of the country’s ecology.

You’ll be taken on a guided tour of the Estate to see the wet mill, dry mill and the hand sorting process. Sample two of the greatest coffee classifications, their aromas, body, acidity and their differences. During your visit, a light snack and refreshing soft drink will also be served.

Your return drive offers a panoramic drive through the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, known today as La Antigua Guatemala. Colourful façades, churches, palaces, and colourful bougainvilleas make this Spanish colonial city a favourite with visitors from all over the world.

Antiguan Culture and Canopy Adventure - NEW

Enjoy an exhilarating zip line adventure for fabulous volcanic views, combined with a taste of the wonderful culture of the city.

Travel to Antigua Guatemala to start you zip line experience. After a safety briefing, begin your adventure to the tree tops, where you will whizz through the sky to a series of platforms in the trees on exciting zip lines.

Take in the astonishing views of Guatemala’s 3 main volcanoes as you pass over the tree tops of the Estate. Your experienced guides will lead you through the tour, giving you information on the beautiful surroundings as you discover them.

A light picnic will be served at a gazebo. At the end of the canopy tour, take a short drive to the onetime capital of Central America, Antigua. Walk with your guide through the cobblestone streets of this historic city, as you discover the highlights of the area.
