Sea and See

A chance to discover the underwater world of Honduras, combined with local life and a visit to the Cameo Factory.

A short drive takes you to a beautiful bay where you will board a semi-sub. This boat does not submerge; instead you’ll descend a few steps into the hull of the boat, which forms an underwater observatory so you can view the treasures of the deep. While you are seated in air-conditioned comfort, your guide will explain the magical blue environment. Pass by beautiful coral formations, living reef, and colourful tropical fish without even getting wet!

After your tour of the sea, you’ll head to the quaint village of West End. Enjoy a refreshing drink and watch the Garifuna Dancers perform the ‘Punta’. You’ll also have chance to browse the small shops for souvenirs.

Take a trip to the only Cameo Factory in the Americas. During this short shopping stop, admire many cameo pieces, hand-made bracelets, rings and necklaces.

3½ hours

East Island Highlights

An opportunity to discover the east side of the island, which offers a more rural experience.

Enjoy lovely views of the island as you take a scenic drive to the Iguana Hideaway, owed by a local family who wish to conserve and protect the species. Here you will walk amongst the giant Iguana’s as they roam freely, some of which are 3 feet long.

Afterwards, your scenic drive will continue, passing through the small local villages and on to a panoramic viewpoint. Enjoy a short photo stop and perhaps purchase a souvenir from one of the open-air kiosks.

The Yubu Experience is your next stop, where you’ll watch the Garifuna Dancers performing to the sound of their drums. You’ll also learn some of the history of the Garifuna, see a replica of a typical hut and sample the traditional crispy yucca bread.

On the return drive, a short photo stop will be made at a viewpoint where you can sample and purchase some local homemade jams. Here, you’ll also enjoy distant views of a stilt fishing village, once inhabited by pirates and now the home of a family-owned fishing company, the 2nd major industry of the island.
