Sihanoukville, the City of Contrast - BEST SELLER

Visit the lower temple, meet the students of a local school, and stop at Sokha Beach for refreshments.

Your tour begins with a visit to the Unthnean Pagoda Wat Krom (‘Lower Temple’), passing Victory Hill and Independence Square en route. Built in 1963, the Pagoda complex is surrounded by 5 villages. It was home to monks who were removed from the site during the Pol Pot regime, when the temples and houses were destroyed. In 1979 the Pagoda was renovated and the monks returned. Wat Krom has excellent views of the sea and a small chapel dedicated to Ya-Mao, a local deity.

Visit a typical Khmer–style village to see how Cambodians live, and meet the children at a local school. You may want to bring some small gifts to share with the children, such as pens, pencils or stationery.

Sokha is one Sihanoukville’s best private beaches, with dazzling white sand. Stop here for approximately one hour of free time and a refreshing soft drink or a local beer.
