How long have you worked for P&O Cruises and which ships have you worked on?

I’ve worked for P&O Cruises for a little under three years, in which time I’ve worked on Ventura, Arcadia, Britannia and most recently Aurora.

What attracted you to the idea of working at sea?

I was originally interested in a role working in the P&O Cruises head office in Southampton; however, the more I thought about it, the more I knew that life at sea was for me. The ability to see the world and get paid for it – it really doesn’t get much better than that.

You’ll soon be starting a role as a senior loyalty and cruise sales manager, which is a brand-new position on P&O Cruises ships. What will your key duties be and what will your day-to-day job involve?

In my new role I will oversee the Loyalty and Cruise Sales department and the team on board. My main duty is to improve the recognition of our loyal guests and to lead a team in helping them book their next dream cruise while on board, with all the extra benefits the guests receive in doing so. My day-to-day job will include much of the behind-the-scenes work that comes with the department – holding presentations and organising and attending all guest events.

What are you looking forward to the most about your new role that’s different from your past role as a loyalty and cruise sales manager?

I am most looking forward to being able to spend more time with our guests and improving the recognition they receive. Also, being able to take much of the workload off the loyalty and cruise sales managers, freeing them up to do what they do best – finding that next perfect cruise for our guests.

What do you like doing during your spare time on board?

I enjoy watching comedy acts, going to the gym (although I should probably go there a little more) and eating in the restaurants. One of my favourites is The Glass House.

Are there P&O Cruises guests you see regularly and come to recognise?

Yes, I have made some wonderful friends with guests, especially on world cruises, as you have the time to get to know who you’re sailing with.

What is your favourite port you’ve visited since working for P&O Cruises and are there any cruise destinations left on your bucket list?

This is such a difficult question and I find it almost impossible to answer! I had always wanted to visit Fiji, and when I had the chance to go, I went on a P&O Cruises shore excursion to a private island, and it turned out to be an incredible day. I also love a Baltic cruise, especially Latvia and Russia. I am yet to do a Northern Lights cruise, so I’d very much like to do that.

Are there any particular stories that stand out from your time with P&O Cruises?

I could write a book about my time at sea! I’ve had some incredible experiences, such as visiting the ancient city of Petra, swimming in the waters of some of my favourite islands in the Caribbean such as Grand Turk and Barbados, visiting the film set of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, going to Pearl Harbor, transiting the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal… the list is endless.
