Discover our brand new shore excursions

27/05/2015

From leisurely sightseeing to exhilarating adventures, here’s a round-up of some of our exciting new shore excursions that will help you to get the very best from your cruise this summer

Explore Spanish cities by Segway with a local guide
Short breaks

If you’re only taking a short break, head to Amsterdam where it’s museum madness in the Museumplein! Visit the world-famous Rijksmuseum for an exciting exhibition on fashion magazines, or for traditionalists, a tour of the Van Gogh Museum is an absolute must. For something slightly off the beaten track, alight at Le Havre and explore the commune of Etretat: its famous cliffs have attracted some even more famous visitors, including Monet and Boudin.

Mediterranean

In the Mediterranean, you could explore Alicante by Segway or bike, step into Gaudí’s world at La Pedrera in Barcelona or head out of town to the delightful city of Girona, while exciting experiences in Italy include pesto lessons in Genoa, Venetian gondola rowing lessons and even the chance to explore Tuscany in a Fiat 500. For adrenaline junkies, we’ve got some amazing adventures in Croatia: hike, bike or kayak around the island of Hvar, or hurtle around the beautiful landscape of Korcula in a buggy, with a stop-off for snorkelling and sunbathing on Przina Beach.

Atlantic Isles

Those visiting the Atlantic Isles can try paddle boarding, go on a 4x4 tour in Gran Canaria, or glide around Segway trails in Vigo and La Coruna. And for those who prefer something more relaxing, why not sample the local tapas in Tenerife? More foodie treats await those on Baltic cruises, including ‘smushi’ – Copenhagen’s combo of the classic open sandwich and sushi – while in Helsinki, there’s an exciting new Speedy Sea Tour and a Bat Max Boat Safari (a thrilling ‘self-drive’ 2-seater boat tour).

Norway and Iceland

If you’re cruising through Norway and Iceland, you could enjoy a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) Ride Adventure in Bergen and explore the glaciers in Reykjavík. And for any nature lovers, there’s the chance to see puffins and even arctic foxes in Ísafjörður.

UK

We also offer the opportunity for you to get to know your homeland better on our cruises around the UK. Get right to the heart of the Highlands in Fort William, for example, or take a RIB ride adventure in Invergordon, while foodies can drink Irish coffee in Killybegs and sample Orkney delicacies in Kirkwall.

We’re a shore thing

Here are just a few reasons why booking on to one of our exclusive shore excursions makes so much sense:

Exclusive to P&O Cruises: with just one pick-up point (usually at the bottom of the gangway), you’ll only ever be joined by your fellow sailing companions. You’ll also have an English-speaking, expert local guide on hand.

Safe and sound: it’s a safe and secure way to explore. We ensure that every shore excursion operator has a safety management system and is covered by a reputable insurance company.

Timely tours: you can leave the clockwatching to us. We’ll make sure your tour fits around the hours you’re in port and we’ll get you back to the ship in time for sailaway celebrations.

No hidden extras: there’s no additional charge for transfers and, where stated, entrance fees are included. Our tour descriptions will also highlight whether lunch or refreshments are provided.

Secure your place: a number of tours are firm favourites and often sell out quickly. So if there’s something that catches your eye, it’s a good idea book ahead via your Cruise Personaliser to secure your spot.

Expert advice: if you’d rather book on board, you can seek expert opinion from our specialists at the Shore Excursions Desk. There are also informative port talks and, by booking with P&O Cruises, we’ll be on hand to answer any questions you might have about your tours, even when you’re in the middle of the ocean.

Been there, done that?

We’re always adding new tours so even if you’re making a return visit, there’ll be something new for you to enjoy.

Half-day shore excursions start at £25 per person and full day from £50.
