Sometimes you want a little more time in port to explore your favourite destinations. That’s why we offer City Stays on our fly-cruise holidays, letting you add on a hotel stay before or after your cruise and leaving you free to relax and see the city’s sights at your own pace.

All accommodation is in four- or five-star hotels that have been specifically selected with P&O Cruises guests in mind, with factors such as location, facilities and value for money all taken into consideration.

If you’re travelling to Dubai for an Arabian Gulf fly-cruise, guests taking the ‘Flights & Transfers’ option can choose from two new fantastic five-star hotels: the Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort.

Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach Hotel

First night from £170 per person per night; additional nights from £130 per person per night

The Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach Hotel offers an excellent base to explore Dubai from its location along the leisure and retail strip known as ‘The Walk’. The hotel has two temperature-controlled pools, a fully equipped gym, steam rooms, a sauna, spa and four dining options. You’ll also be provided with an umbrella, mat, towel and water, should you choose to spend some time soaking up the sun – and with the stunning Jumeirah Beach right on your doorstep, it’s likely you’ll find it hard to resist.

P&O Cruises guests will stay in a Classic Sea View Room. Each room measures a generous 42sqm and features a balcony, shower over bathtub and a mini-bar, among other amenities.

Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort

First night from £200 per person per night; additional nights from £150 per person per night

The Anantara Resort offers rest and relaxation in a truly spectacular setting along the eastern crescent of Dubai’s famous Palm Jumeirah islands. Its traditional Thai-inspired architecture, unique location and top-notch amenities combine to create a hotel experience unlike any other.

The resort has three lagoon-style pools, a choice of four restaurants, a spa, fitness centre and access to a private beach. Your stay will be in a Standard Room Residence in the North Residences building within the resort complex. Each room offers sea or resort views, a balcony, a walk-in rain shower and much more.

Both hotels offer a great base from which to explore the bustling city of Dubai. What you choose to see and do is completely up to you – the extra time in port gives you the chance to truly get under the city’s skin.

Why not start the day at a café for a qahwa (coffee) and lugaimat (deep-fried dumplings drizzled with sugar syrup) and watch the morning rush go by? Afterwards, you could ascend to the 148th floor of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, to get a bird’s-eye view of the city’s incredible architecture. Next door you’ll find the colossal Dubai Mall, with its many shops and restaurants and its musical dancing fountains. No trip to Dubai would be complete without a visit to the souqs – tour the district of Deira to haggle for gold and spices with friendly vendors. When the sun goes down, the city’s legendary nightlife beckons. Dine on traditional Arab mezze, take in some culture on a visit to the Dubai Opera or admire the twinkling skyscrapers aboard a twilight boat cruise from Dubai Marina.

Booking your City Stay through P&O Cruises offers a range of benefits. All transfers between ship, hotel and airport are included, as is breakfast and luggage porterage costs. Plus, there’s the security – P&O Cruises local representatives will be available on the day of embarkation to provide advice or assistance, and local agents can be contacted 24/7 should any problems arise.
