After the honour of being christened by Her Majesty The Queen earlier this year, we’re proud to announce that Britannia has been named ‘Best New Ocean Ship’ by Cruise International magazine at their 2015 award ceremony in September.

With more than 27,000 cruise guests voting for this year’s categories, which championed everything from Best Cruise Line to Best Cruise Blogger, the Cruise International Awards are without a doubt the most well-respected and prestigious awards in the industry.

Liz Jarvis, Editor of Cruise International magazine, said: ‘The awards are voted for by the people who go on cruises, and the results are a real insight into consumer opinion.’ Andy Harmer, Director of the Cruise Lines International Association, agreed: ‘The thousands of votes for the awards bear testament to the passion shown by those holidaymakers with a love for everything cruise.’

Celebrating the UK’s fastest growing travel sector, the ceremony drew an audience that included some of the most influential members of the UK’s leading cruise lines, as well as celebrity guests including actress Michelle Collins, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond and Eurovision winner Cheryl Baker. It was a glittering evening of glamour and champagne held in the theatre and Dive Bar at the award-winning Ham Yard Hotel in central London.

P&O Cruises Marketing Director, Christopher Edgington, collected Britannia’s award: ‘We’re very excited that our newest ship, Britannia, has won this award. Britannia is a ship for the nation and the embodiment of contemporary Britain, and it’s very fitting that she has been recognised by people who enjoy cruise holidays for this accolade in her first year in the P&O Cruises fleet.’
