Head off on an intriguing cultural adventure in the Baltic

The Baltic Sea is framed by countries, each boasting a rich cultural heritage, as well as an intriguing blend of artistic periods and styles. It’s an intriguing place of ancient cities, story-book castles, deep, dark forests, and magically empty – yet magnificent – scenery. Perhaps fairy tales may come true here?

Relax at sea on Aurora, before arriving in Skagen, a town of colourful clapboard homes, beautiful rugged landscapes and rich art heritage. On to Copenhagen, to discover why visitors flock to explore its iconic sights and buildings. In Gdańsk, wander the pedestrianised Old Town, shop or enjoy a coffee. Next stop, Visby, is described as the ‘Pearl of the Baltic’ and, evocatively, as the ‘town of roses and ruins’.

And, so you arrive for two unforgettable days in imperial St Petersburg. Its awesome grandeur, and treasure trove of art and artefacts, is truly staggering. You can’t help but marvel at the riches of the Hermitage, the opulence of the palaces and the beauty of the Tsar’s gardens.

Klaipėda is brimming with bays and beaches, and a lovingly restored old town. Oslo is awash with rich Viking heritage, frescoed 18th century houses, vast parks and shimmering lakes. Kristiansand with its old quarter, Blue Flag beach, vibrant cultural life and excellent shopping offers a charming last stop before setting sail home.
