Your wedding ceremony
Experience something completely unique
When you choose to get married at sea you choose something extraordinary. Conducted by the Captain in a private venue on board your ship, saying 'I do' while at sea is truly one of the most wondrous ways to celebrate a marriage. Your ceremony will be adorned with fresh floral arrangements and soft melodies. The Captain* will lead you through the service, the exchanging of vows, and finally pronounce you husband and wife. Once the register has been signed, your union will be celebrated by a champagne toast to the happy couple and you'll be presented with the P&O Cruises commemorative wedding certificate.
If you would like to choose your own wedding music or arrange for a member of your wedding party to read a piece of poetry or prose during your ceremony, this can easily be organised. If you would like some ideas for either readings or music, we can send you a booklet entitled 'Collection of Verse and Music for your Civil Marriage' – please indicate if you would like this on the Booking Form (a small charge applies). As with all civil ceremonies, your selected music and readings must not be of a religious nature.
Please see the frequently asked questions section for important information about your ceremony.
*If the Captain is unable to conduct the ceremony, his senior representative will be asked to perform the role on his behalf.
