Experience Entertainment
Showtime!
Discover what, or rather who is waiting to entertain you on board as Kate Johnston gives you an insight into show business P&O Cruises style.

My life at sea began with X Factor-style auditions two years ago. Since then I’ve performed on Arcadia, Oceana and Aurora. Our rehearsals begin ashore where we learn dance routines and songs from eight musicals. From here, we’re on board for six months, learning more routines, performing twice a night and changing our set every couple of days. I’m not denying it’s hard work, but it’s incredibly satisfying.
Yet it’s not just us. People forget that behind the scenes there’s also a creative team of directors, choreographers, set and costume designers, all working tirelessly to produce perfectly polished, show stopping performances. There are some incredibly talented individuals across the whole entertainment team and I’m proud to be part of such a remarkable team.’
There are some incredibly talented individuals on board, not just in Headliners – the theatre company I work for – but across the whole entertainment team. When I can, I like to become part of the audience for a change and immerse myself in the rhythm of life on board. I always remember being utterly moved by a classical recital given on Arcadia, and of dancing until the early hours to a jazz band on Aurora, joined by several people I recognised from my audience the night before.
You can lose yourself to the sound of soloists, duets, quartets and tribute acts, while comedians and impressionists appeal to your sense of humour. The sheer variety you can experience on any given day is astounding and ensures that every single day of your holiday is different.
