Faces peer out from glass-fronted lifts at the Panama Canal far below. Taste buds tingle as New Zealand appears on the horizon and the first anticipated bite I savoured in Gary Rhodes’ restaurant. Laughter drifts through the Screening Room doors as Arcadia cruises past the coast of Vietnam. With indulgent and stylish features throughout, she adds an air of sophistication to any holiday.

A relative newcomer to world travel, Arcadia embarked on her maiden voyage in 2009. In 2011 she’ll complete her third circumnavigation of the globe, sailing west from Southampton across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal and out into the Pacific. There’ll be calls along the coast of New Zealand and Australia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand, before a transit of the Suez Canal and the final leg home through the Mediterranean.

Video: The Arcadia World Cruise 2011Being a child-free ship, Arcadia has more room for grown-up indulgences. And it’s these unique features that play a vital role in creating an unforgettable world voyage. Stunning views of Hong Kong Harbour are enhanced by the striking Asian fusion dishes served in The Orchid Restaurant. While skirting the islands of Hawaii, travellers can surround themselves with the comforts of home in the British themed, Rising Sun pub. As the emerald waters of Indonesia caress Arcadia’s hull, the bubbling waters of her hydro pool soothe away any aches from explorations ashore.

Calling at so many iconic ports, Arcadia’s highlights are plenty. What yours will be is entirely up to you. For some it might be the draw of city life; Mumbai, Singapore, Bangkok, San Francisco, for others the chance to feel silky soft sand underfoot on the beaches of Honolulu, the Whitsundays and Ko Samui. The attraction might be in the overnight calls at Sydney and Hong Kong or the chance to breathe in the pure Atlantic Ocean air. Or maybe, it’s simply the opportunity to explore.
