What is a Fly-Cruise Holiday & What are the Benefits?

Start exploring sooner with a fly-cruise holiday!

When your holiday time is limited, a fly-cruise can make it work harder for you. We answer questions about hitting the sunshine the speedy way.

Q. How do fly-cruises work?

A. A fly-cruise holiday offers the signature P&O Cruises experience with a twist. Rather than beginning your holiday by boarding your ship in Southampton, you instead fly straight to your destination and transfer to the departure port of your cruise ship. After a relaxing holiday, you’ll be transferred back to the airport for your flight home.

Q. What are some of the benefits of a fly-cruise?

A. With a fly-cruise, you get the best of both worlds – the speed of air travel and the style and variety of a cruise holiday. You’ll get to your destination that bit quicker with less time spent at sea, meaning more time to explore the exciting ports on your itinerary (which is particularly good if you only have a week at your disposal); then once you’re on board, you can enjoy all the exciting entertainment, delicious dining and warm hospitality that P&O Cruises is famous for.

And we make it easy: all flights and transfers are arranged for you. Once you’ve landed, P&O Cruises staff will show you to your ship, where your comfortable cabin awaits. Luggage is a breeze, too. On selected charter flights, you can simply drop it off at the airport and we’ll take care of the rest – the next time you see your bags will be in your cabin.

Q. What are some of the destinations I can fly to?

A. Say hello to the sunshine, all year round. On a Canary Islands fly-cruise, you can hop right over the Bay of Biscay and fly directly to Tenerife, where you can dip your toes into black-sand beaches, taste wine from a volcanic vineyard or go stargazing. On a Caribbean fly-cruise (flights to Barbados and Antigua), you can hike to a volcanic summit, dance to a vibrant street parade or scuba dive in crystal-clear waters; while on a Mediterranean fly-cruise, you can fly to Malta and immediately immerse yourself in the diverse culture, cuisines and architecture of Europe’s most spectacular cities. For something more far-flung, why not explore the furthest corners of the globe on an Exotic fly-cruise, where you can join a segment of the World Cruise?

Azura and Britannia are both offering fly-cruises in 2022, 2023 and 2024, with Arvia joining in early 2023. Arcadia will be sailing the World Cruise in 2023 and 2024.

Q. What’s included in the cost?

A. Economy flights from London are included on all fly-cruise holidays. Economy flights from a range of regional airports are available on selected cruises for a small additional cost. However, we are currently running a special offer until 22 August 2022 with no additional supplement for regional flights – what better time to book a fly-cruise holiday from your local airport? Transfers in destination are included on all flights and on selected Caribbean flights you can upgrade to Premium Economy.

For peace of mind, your flights are ATOL and ABTA protected. And of course, the value extends well beyond your flights – as with any P&O Cruises holiday, on-board amenities such as dining in the main restaurants, entertainment and children’s clubs are included in the price.

To make your fly-cruise even smoother, we have partnered with Holiday Extras who will make sure that your trip goes without any unexpected hiccups by providing a range of parking, hotels and lounge access at airports as well as offering our guests competitive travel insurance.
