About Cape Wrath

Cape Wrath is on the most northwesterly extreme of mainland Scotland. Much of the cape is owned by the Ministry of Defence and is used as a military training area. Another good reason we will only be sailing by!

On these cliffs stands a lighthouse, built by Robert Stevenson in 1828. Constructed from hand dressed stone and large blocks of granite, it stands 66 feet high and is 400 feet above the sea. Its beam can be seen for 22 nautical miles.

The nearby Clo Mor cliffs are the highest in the British Mainland at 921 feet. They are also a major breeding ground for thousands of sea birds.
