Welcome to Excel Class

Relaxed and informal, Arvia and Iona push the boundaries to give you a holiday like no other. Offering variety on a scale rivalled only by your endless appetite for new and exciting experiences, it’s a match made in heaven.

What makes Iona and Arvia so special?

Designed to invite the outdoors in, P&O Cruises Excel class ships make the sea the star, ensuring you’re never far from an ocean panorama or a view of your next destination, whether it’s in the Norwegian fjords, the Caribbean, the Canary Islands or Northern Europe. In fact, as both ships feature Conservatory Mini-suites, you can even lounge in your own personal oasis as the world goes serenely by... and the reasons to try them go on and on, just like those gorgeous views.

Let’s start with those sublime sea views. One of the best things about a P&O Cruises holiday is that it is always punctuated by an ocean view; a view that keeps on giving, changing with the light and your itinerary. And on Arvia and Iona, there are endless ways to enjoy it. While cooling off in the Infinity Pool or lounging in an infinity whirlpool. From a cosy vantage point in the Grand Atrium’s Vistas Café Bar with its huge expanse of glass. Or as you sip a cocktail at the stylish Sunset Bar. It’s time to discover just how panoramic your relaxing moments can be.

Meet the fleet

As the first British cruise ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), Iona is our greenest, largest and most innovative ship yet. With her luminous glass-roofed SkyDome, on-board gin distillery and whole world of dining and entertainment on board. Iona has a host of surprises in store.

Iona’s eagerly-anticipated sister ship, Arvia, joins the fleet in December 2022 and is heading for the sunshine. Like Iona, Arvia is another Excel class ship, with even more freedom, innovation and variety in store than ever before. So get ready for your ultimate P&O Cruises holiday.

Why not take a look around?

Arvia and Iona: sisters, not twins

All of our ships have a beautiful uniqueness about them and Arvia and Iona are no different. They may have similar venues like The Limelight Club and The 710 Club, and their three-floor Grand Atrium and SkyDome, but Arvia is bringing a few new things to the table. Her fun-filled activity zone, Altitude; her yummy plant-based dining area Green & Co feat. Mizuhana; and, of course, the incredible Mission Control escape room. Both ships are equally as beautiful, just not exactly the same!

Our most comfortable and flexible cabins yet

Conservatory Mini-suites

The Conservatory Mini-suite is an exciting new addition to the choice of accommodation and a signature option on Iona and Arvia. The concept, which comes with Mini-suite benefits, brings the outdoors in with a personal and versatile conservatory-style room that forms an extension to the cabin. It offers great flexibility and creates a distinctive relaxation and socialising space.

Aft and Forward Suites are always special, giving guests the ultimate experience of relaxation in their own boutique-hotel haven. The Suites on Iona and Arvia take this to another level of comfort and style. The design direction is one of contemporary comfort and elegance – a luxurious space is created as the doors of interconnecting rooms open fully to create a larger, brighter studio ambience.

Balcony cabins

The sea and coastline are the stars on Iona and Arvia, and the Balcony accommodation gives guests the chance to enjoy them to the full, whether travelling solo or in a larger group. There are three options to choose from – Deluxe (the most spacious), Single and Standard Balcony – all of which offer an extended private space in which to relax and unwind. From enjoying a cup of tea in the morning to watching the sun set with a drink, guests can relax in their own private area.

Other cabin types

To complete the options of accommodation and offer great choice and value, Iona and Arvia's cabin selection of course includes Sea view (Outside) and Inside cabins. Here, too, the design and choices of colours and materials optimises the seaside feel. Porthole mirrors, blue feature walls and soft furnishings and accessories in gold and white textiles bring a sense of light and relaxation to the interior space.

Entertainment on a grand scale

Prepare to be wowed by artful aerialists in SkyDome, immersive shows in the 900-seat theatre and an array of musical genres that have inspired Music Director Gary Barlow in The 710 Club. Dial the energy up or down; it’s up to you. From the magic of the silver screen in the on-board cinema to live DJ sets and Celebration Nights around the pool, we’ve something for your every mood on Arvia and Iona.

There’s plenty to discover on board...

Big flavours and epic dining experiences

We know new flavours and dining experiences are just as much part of your holiday as the destinations you visit, which is why on Arvia and Iona, there’s an amazing choice of over thirty places to eat and drink. You might book a table in The Keel and Cow or the fabulously atmospheric Sindhu, head to The Quays for some traditional fish and chips or indulge your sweet tooth with a visit to Ripples gelateria. There’s even the chance to join a masterclass to distil your own gin on board as both Arvia and Iona have their very own gleaming copper still.
