From the modern city of Dubai, to calls in Bahrain and Oman, these fly-cruises combine winter sunshine, iconic skylines, desert dunes and atmospheric souqs to stunning effect.

P&O Cruises announces new season of ex-UK winter holidays following withdrawal from Dubai

Following close monitoring of the situation within the Straits of Hormuz and taking advice from external authorities we have taken the decision to cancel our planned Dubai and Arabian Gulf programme from October 2019 to March 2020.

The increased tension in the region highlighted by the attacks on tankers in the Straits and the detention of a British-flagged tanker by the Iranian authorities means as a British company flying the Red Ensign it is not advisable for us to maintain our planned Dubai and Arabian Gulf programme this winter season.

We have therefore taken the unusual step of withdrawing Oceana from the region for the upcoming season. Whilst we appreciate our guests will be disappointed, the safety of our guests, crew and ship is absolutely paramount and given our UK status, coupled with the uncertainty in the region, we have had to make this difficult decision.

All bookings will be cancelled and guests will be given a full refund.

A range of new holiday options for Oceana are being developed and will be on sale from 9am on August 20, 2019.  This will include departures from Southampton sailing to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, as well as a pre-Christmas 35 night cruise to the Caribbean.

All guests affected by this change will receive an exclusive offer on 2020/21 Dubai and Arabian Gulf holidays as well as Caribbean fly/cruises as we have two ships, Britannia and Azura, based in the Caribbean from October 2019 to March 2020 for winter sun holidays.

Sorting the myths from the facts

Flying to Dubai in under 8 hours, you can enjoy a winter holiday that has it all - sunshine, exotic locations, stunning beaches and the opportunity to discover the culture of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and beyond.

It's too hot to do anything

The average temperature during Oceana’s Dubai & Arabian Gulf season is 23 degrees, so a comfortable warmth.

You can't drink alcohol

Yes you can. Whilst drinking in public is not permitted, there is a bustling nightlife where alcohol is allowed in most of the hotels’ licensed bars and restaurants.

It's all just sand or a concrete jungle

There’s so much more to the region. It’s historic and culturally rich with dramatic natural scenery – think mountains, nature treks, deep sea diving and even fjords!

You have to cover up all the time

Women don't need to be covered from head to toe but do be respectful to the locals, i.e. no bare arms or legs when in a public place and a headscarf when in a holy site/place of worship. Beachwear is perfectly acceptable on most resorts.

Carrying medication is prohibited

If you are using prescribed medicines, it’s advised that you seek advice from the UAE London Embassy Department 0207 486 6281 prior to your arrival.
