P&O Cruises has unveiled its 2016/2017 holidays featuring brand new event cruises, exciting new itineraries, more evening and overnight calls in popular destinations; more Greek Island cruises and maiden calls in Corigliano Calabro and Crotone, Italy and in Tarragona, Spain.

New for 2016 is a 19 night cruise on Aurora (R619) departing November 1, featuring Athens, Naples and Rhodes as well as Kusadasi for tours to Ephesus.

More Evening and Overnight Calls
To allow guests to immerse themselves in a destination and experience the vibrant nightlife, P&O Cruises is offering evening calls in 33 ports and overnights in 13 popular destinations including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bridgetown, New Orleans, New York, Quebec, Reykjavik, St Petersburg and Venice.

Maiden Calls
• Corigliano Calabro, Italy – situated in the Plain of Sibari overlooking the Ionian Sea, this is a little-known part of Calabria, where ancient traditions and customs are still part of daily life. Highlights include an aqueduct, the ruins of the ancient city of Thurii and the nearby site of Sybaris. Available on Oriana X610.
• Crotone, Italy - founded around 710 BC, Crotone was long one of the most flourishing cities of Magna Graecia, an area of Southern Italy extensively colonized by Greek settlers. Today, visitors enjoy the fruits of this port city's rich history, including Cortone's medieval cathedral, the 16th century castle of Charles V, as well as numerous museums and art galleries. Available on Oriana X611 and X619.
• Tarragona, Spain – enjoy a mix of laid-back beach life and ancient history in this Catalonian city which boasts a handful of sandy beaches, a walled old town, and a collection of UNESCO-listed Roman ruins. Barcelona is just an hour’s drive away. Available on Oriana X612.

With its fleet of eight ships – including the newly-launched Britannia – P&O Cruises will continue to offer the biggest selection of year-round cruises from Southampton as well as seven and 14 night Mediterranean fly-cruises from Venice or Genoa on Oceana and 14 and 28 night Caribbean fly-cruises on Azura and Britannia.

Note to Editors:
P&O Cruises 2016/2017 programme will also feature more scenic and popular themed cruises – whether it be cooking, dancing or music.

Scenic cruising
• Stromboli - Guests onboard Oriana (X610), Azura (A608 and A624) and Ventura (N614 and N619) will cruise past the smoking volcanic island of Stromboli which rises suddenly out of the azure waters and boasts a trickling lava trail. According to the US Geological Survey, Stromboli is the most active volcano in the world. It erupts explosively two to three times an hour, spewing lava, rocks and ash in a tight cone, as high as 3,000 feet into the air. The show is quite dramatic and best seen at a distance from the comfort of a cruise ship.
• Messina Strait – while cruising the Messina Strait onboard Arcadia (J608, J615 and J616), Aurora (R606, R613 and R616), Oriana (X604, X606, X610, X611 and X619) guests can stand on deck and admire the wonderful coastline of Sicily on one side and Calabria, Italy on the other.
