Explore intoxicating Salalah and the surrounding Dhofar region. Inhale deeply at the heady Frankincense Souk, where perfumes, curios and souvenirs are sold. You’ll then continue on to the ancient town of Khor Rori, one of Oman's most significant archaeological sites. A key trading hub and harbour for the shipping of frankincense some 2,000 years ago, the ruins reputedly contain the palace of the legendary Queen of Sheba. Visit the 19th-century Taqah Castle in a coastal Dhofari town famed for its pottery, silverwork and other artisan industries. Notice the castle's shuttered windows, distinctive for their latticed wooden screens and keyhole-shaped arches. At Ain Razat, chill out at the natural underground springs set amid lush, tranquil mountains.
