Sit back and enjoy a relaxing ride through Alesund’s lovely location. The city was built on several islands that stretch out into the sea, and the busy town is the largest on Norway’s northwest coast.
Alesund was mostly destroyed by fire in 1904, but luckily for you, it was rebuilt in the architectural style of the time, art nouveau. The results are a wonderful collection of architecture, including the famous Jugend-style houses in the harbour area.
Heading through the suburbs will take you to the Mount Aksla viewpoint, for a photo stop. From there you will get spectacular, panoramic views of the archipelago, beautiful town centre, and amazing snow-capped Sunnmøre Alps.
