Aksla Bunker, Hike and Coffee

Take an easy 30-minute guided walk through the architectural charms of Art Nouveau Ålesund, which was rebuilt in the early 20^th century after a devastating fire. Then climb the famous Aksla Steps – all 418 of them – to the Fjellstua Viewpoint. The spectacular panoramas of the archipelago, town centre and Sunnmøre Alps are worth the effort. Explore the nearby German WW2 bunker and communication centre that also benefitted from this strategic, lofty outlook – 180 metres above the archipelago. Wander through the Battalion headquarters bunker, which includes an armour-plated fire-control bunker, a kitchen bunker and a personnel bunker with cannon placements.
