Take in a blend of city sights and natural wonders on this diverse experience.
Sit back and marvel at the strikingly rugged volcanic landscape as you drive towards the spectacular Godafoss waterfall. From the western bank of the Skjálfandafljót River, you’ll have a soul-stirring view of the raging phenomenon where waters plunge 40 feet from a semi-circular, 100-foot-wide precipice.
Back in Akureyri, take a stroll around the peaceful and colourful botanical gardens – one of the most northern examples in the world. Admire exotic plants and flowers from around the globe, as well as native species, and perhaps buy yourself a drink at the café.
Finally, a panoramic drive takes you through the city. Your guide will point out the most famous landmarks, and explain the different architectural styles that nod to the local history of trading, before you arrive back at your ship.

The amount of walking on this tour is at passengers’ own discretion. The terrain at the Gardens consists of gravel or mud pathways and there are benches at various intervals to allow for resting. The collection of flora and fauna in the gardens is dependent on the weather conditions experienced throughout the year. At Goðafoss there is an uneven, lava surface and no handrails; therefore passengers are advised to exercise caution. Comfortable, flat and enclosed footwear is recommended. The running order of visited sites might vary and run in a reverse order if considered necessary, this could be down to local traffic conditions or in order to avoid congestion at the main sites.
