Experience Details*
The road into the Prunelli Gorges is narrow and bendy, as befits a trail cut alongside a river through soaring mountains. Passing through the village of Cauro, you’ll climb through the forest into the crumpled interior of Corsica, squeezing past granite cliffs tinged with red and rewarding visitors with views out to distant ranges. Take a break at Lake Tolla and breathe in the fragrances of the maquis, an intoxicating cocktail of wild flowers and herbs including juniper, thyme, mint, basil and oregano that covers the lower mountain slopes and has earned the island the nickname Scented Isle.
